Easily beats anything on Backspacer and probably Avocado too. Possibly the best song they have released in 10 years (along with Infallible).

First of all gotta say it is great to see love for Pendulum, IMO, the best song on the album. It is the best song since:

    Unthought Known

The whole LB album is great!

Pendulum needs another minute of substance to it, otherwise its not even in the top 3.

    MFS, Yellow Moon, Infallible.
And so you see, I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
    I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.

I agree with half your statement as 'My Father's Son' is hands down the worst song on the album...

Then it's a hell of an album. My Father's Son is pretty great to me.

That slower bridge ----> that Jeff bass lick ----> that classic Ed scream = auditory boner

  • I like Swallowed Whole a little more than Pendulum and I am a big fan of Yellow Moon which I also like more than Pendulum. Which isn't a criticism because I like Pendulum a lot.

To those talking about My Father's Son, I think it's an okay song. I definitely love the second half of it while I like the first.

It's still a decent song, just the worst on the album. As for "Pendulum", the ending is just awful, where ed sings "Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah. I'm also not a big fan of "Yellow Moon", it sounds too much like "Low Light", it just doesn't stand out. I wished that they would have played "Getaway" and "Sleeping By Myself" at Buffalo instead of repeating the weaker songs like "Pendulum" and "Yellow Moon".

    All Or None.

I think Infallible is the better song of the two, but they both are the best two songs on the album and are the best songs PJ has put out since All Or None.

No, no, please!!! All Or None is an amazing song and Eddie vocals just cosmic there... I'm so sorry, I don't get it, I can't appreciate LB, but I'm glad for all of you who love this album, enjoy!! :-)

lightning bolt. assuming lightning bolt was recorded first. if you mean relating to previous albums. I'd say it's the best song since inside job.
  • I love the album in its entirety. With that said, Pendulum is at the bottom for me. I have seen where lots of posters are all about Pendulum after seeing it live. I watched it on youtube and admit that it does give a cool vibe. But if it isn't played as an opener, I don't see it fitting into a show all that well. To be honest, it takes a while for me to gravitate to these "different" songs. I had a hard time falling for much of the Binaural album due to the "different" sound. It's funny how songs I used to skip are now ones I love. So in time, I'm sure this too will grow on me.

I have nothing against those who love Pendulum and MFS, but I just don't dig them. Future Days was something special from the first time I heard it at Wrigley. This album is challenging me as a person, making me want to be better (I take FD, Infallible, MYM, and Getaway as Ed's challenge to the world...especially that of religion...to be better). I have thought this about certain songs since 2000 (I have no hate for Avacado and Backspacer-some of my all time fav's there). It's so cool to me how PJ can be interpreted by all so differently, yet we can find lyrics that inspire us.

Here's my "fav list" for Lightning Bolt.

    1 Future Days
    2 Lightning Bolt
    3 Infallible
    4 Sirens
    5 Mind Your Manners
    6 Getaway
    7 Let the Records Play
    8 Sleeping By Myself
    9 Yellow Moon
    10 Swallowed Whole
    11 My Father's Son
    12 Pendulum
  • I understand what you're saying about the "different" sounding songs but I am completely opposite of you. Those are the ones that I gravitate towards. That's what made me fall in love with this band. The diversity. And you may be right about it not fitting in live unless as an opener but only time and bootleg listening will tell. I like all of the songs but my fav list is as follows:
    Pendulum
    Infallible
    Sirens
    MYM
    Yellow Moon
    Swallowed Whole
    LTRP
    Getaway
    My Father's Son
Future Days (would be higher without the tinkling Casio)
    Lightning Bolt
    Sleeping By Myself
