Pittsburgh/GA line recap

Got to the arena around 8:45 am and there were already 9 or 10 people lined up for GA. The merch tent was set up outside one of the gates around 12:30 and of course the line was long as hell all day but it's still a great way to sell merch, since you can drop your stuff off to your car or hotel before going in.

Even though the weather sucked, sitting there all day wasn't that bad and seemed to go by quicker than we all thought it would. It helps that everyone in the group was very cool and that once we got in we all got the rail we wanted. I'd say at least the first 30 or so people in line got the rail.

I liked the setlist, some people were bitching about it. Nobody predicted a new song for the opener and we got a lot more new music than I was expecting, happy about that. They did play a lot of the hits but no Evenflow. A hghlight for me was Jason Grilli coming out for 'Whipping'. You obviously kno Grilli is a big fan of the band but you may not know that when he comes out to pitch in home games, he comes out to 'Whipping' every time. He was WAY into it, you can tell it meant a lot to him to be up there and I was really happy for him.

Overall a great night. Only thing that bugged me was the very few people who just made their way to the front, skipping through people who waited all day. I'm not even saying this because it involved me because it didn't they all ended up right behind me or right next to me so I wasn't effected but clearly other people were and I really just think it's inconsiderate to do that to people. One guy bragged to me that he didn't have to wait and he "was at the bar" but justified it by saying he drove 5 hours. Another guy just made his way through with his elementary aged son. He tried to justify it by saying "we won't be here long". Yea they were there for the whole show.

The band sounded great, Ed was full of energy he really was. Mike looked exhausted going into one of the encores and he threw many picks of course. They didn't show any sign of slowing down anytime soon this will be a great tour get out and see them if you can. Last thing, 2 of the tambourines that Ed gave out during 'Rockin in the Free World' went to a group of awesome guys from Milwaukee who deserved it more than anyone. Those guys were the first people in line that morning, they got there at 5am.

You'll be fine even people who got there hours after I did got a great spot I saw them.. I'm not a front row snob who has to be there every show, Ive had shit seats for many shows. Last night was my first front row actually and same for other people next to me, they were genuinely excited about it. Trying to help people who do want to arrive early get an idea of what to expect.

I take the whole people who wait longest should get best GA seats as crap. It should be a combination of who is smartest and who knows how it works.

10C sent the email out that clearly said 'GA may enter any gate' and an audio announcement plus postings plastered everywhere said all people and bags will be checked by security. By 3:00pm the GA line was huge. After I made a quick lap around the arena I realized we could line up at 6:00pm and be one of the first ones in if we went in different gate. If you weren't in the first 50 of the huge GA line, then you weren't beating any of the firsts from different gates. If you were dumb enough to get in line set up by people (not PJ staff or arena staff)...that's on you. Obviously we had more distance to run/walk, but since we were first in at 6:30, we had a head start over all due to security check.

GA (2nd row by Vedder...prob stood next to you as I

recall kid/dad) was a great experience, but I'll fucking never do it again. No water and next to dudes who were pissing in cups and dumping them or sitting them down because no one could leave with fear of losing spot. NO FUCKING THANKS. Glad I did it, but never again. Get a vendor or something down there!!!!!!

Couldn't PJ keep GA but have seats like always? Pretty much play musical chairs at start then at least your +1 could save your seat. I don't know. 5 hours standing, no water, no piss breaks, with sweaty, smelly, bad breath, and people pissing everywhere was just nasty.

Can't wait for tonight, reserved seats in 117! I can piss tonight!!!!!

I dont have a problem with u lining up at a different gate, thats not the same thing as skipping through people who waited all day which was clearly happening. u still have to go through security at any gate and the people lined up at the closest gate to the floor access have the head start. if u werent in that first 40 or so people at the closest gate, then yes another gate was the smarter choice, depending on when u got there.

We got to GA about 7:30. We figured we were just happy to be in GA. We had a couple nice people near us. All of us wanted to enjoy the show and chill....very good time and what a great show!!

I was there early and made the rail and had an amazing experience.

However, I did not see anybody pissing on the floor or in cups. Maybe it was just on Stone's side but everybody was very respectful of personal space. I did hear about the father/son and had a couple drunks wander behind me, but they kept moving. Never once though did I have anybody on my heels, bumping into me or trying to intrude on my space.

It's also worth noting that the venue did tell us that the main entrance was the only entrance for the floor. When ticket distribution took place, other info was given out at the windows. Which shortly thereafter, security said they'd let the early arrivals in the main gate 20 minutes early to make up for the confusion. Which never happened.

Would I do it again? Hell yes. It was a first time and amazing experience for me and as the OP mentioned, time actually went by pretty quickly. It's on you and completely possible to be smart about food, drinks, and bathroom breaks.

    That is a FANTASTIC IDEA!

You go to a special ticket window...when it opens up, you can say "I want these two seats"...the seats would be the first three sections in the front...go to the bars and the parties...your seat is reserved, but also GA based on how early you get in the line. Plus then, get a beer, take a bathroom break, whatever you want...and not have to worry about losing your spot.

I got there around 2:30...made friends with everyone in line. People were really awesome. My friend and I ordered pizzas and shared with everyone around us. People held places in line while other people went to the bathroom or ran to get food. I was 2 rows back on Stone's side and had an amazing experience. There was a guy who came up from the back and tried to get up front but the entire crowd, myself included, let him know how much of an asshole he was and after 3 songs he disappeared. Last night was a dream come true for me!! If you do not want your GA tickets...I will gladly take them!
    I miss you alreddie.

This is 100% accurate. I don't know if it was a communication problem but security was very confused about how they should let everyone in. They were going to hand out these blue generic wristbands that were totally different from the official 10club wristbands.

I was wondering wat u meant. all I can say is, I pissed 3 times in the last hour before doors opened because I wanted to be sure I didnt have to inside, at least for a little while. I did see other people who were able to leave the front go get beers and they were able to make it back to their spot. I think if u leave ur spot and go through in a straight line, announcing to everyone to remember ur face because ull be coming back through the same way to return to ur spot, u should be ok.:)

I think you're asking too much of GA. It's all part of the risk of first come, first served. I was able to eat and drink all day, stop at 5:30 and take my last bathroom break at 6:00 and felt fine all night. The only person you can count on to take care of you is you.

That's a false premise, there was no PJ staff lining people up at any of the gates. Again, the venue's staff was confused but from what I saw, they weren't lining people up either. All of the lines essentially are set up by people.
