It is absolutely absurd... the amount of cash that people are asking for used Pearl Jam vinyl... even new vinyl. I can understand the super rare press... Come on, hundreds of dollars? Really? We REALLY need to find a way to bring these values back down to earth again... What the fuck?

I am done my rant for the morning...

ps. - 11 days til the NEW RECORD!!!!! :D

Why dont they just repress them? Doesnt have to be a big thing. Most bands dont even make a press release.

They are expensive and reissues are great, but if they're not gonna do it right, I don't care either way.

i agree.. no code and yeild deserve the time and energy. that being said, i have been waiting a long time, and no code is my favorite album, so i have come close many times to paying $200+

its time to reissue them, but the band has a lot going on at this point, perhaps after the tour is finished?

Why doesn't Pearl Jam do some resissues for Record Store Day?

People go crazy for Record Store Day. I would line up at my local record store early in the morning to secure some reissued PJ vinyls.

    Agreed.

I have paid lots of my hard earned money for PJ vinyl, new and used. I got into vinyl because of PJ, it is sad that I cannot afford to enjoy theirs to the fullest because of money. I don't want the albums for their collector's value, I am spinning all my stuff. If you listen to other bands as well, that's a hobby that can get expensive soon...

I'm doing pretty well with my "collection" though. From the studio albums, the only one missing is Avocado. I would love to acquire Lost Dogs and my dream is a Benny Hall. The most money I paid to far for an LP was around 220 dollars. My research and patience paid off and I got some really good deals like a sealed Yield for around 50 dollars. The hunt is fun, but I think the easiest part is over for me now. I might be able to get my hands on an Avocado and a LD some unknown day in the future, but a Benny couldn't be farther away from me :|

I'm looking forward to re-issues of their other albums post the first three. There is no way I would spend 100+ dollars on one record.

My best guess is they are holding off for the eventual release of more deluxe boxsets.

Releasing the vinyl in advanced would probably lower the demand for the more expensive boxsets. People would have the vinyl in advance, so the part of the cost of the boxsets would be duplicated.

I think the Ten deluxe set sold well because the copies of "Ten" in the set were no remastered copies. Vinyl that people didn't already have. The Vs./Vitalogy sets sold poorly, most likely because there are mass quantities of those records available on the secondary market (ie alot of people already had those records as they weren't all that rare).

From a business standpoint, if they do plan on making more boxsets, its a better decision to wait to release the vinyl at the same time. From a fan standpoint it sucks :) I loved it when the Foo Fighters released their whole back catalog last year for $20 to $30/album.

From a business standpoint, I think they are missing out on an opportunity to make some money. There is an obvious heighten interest in vinyl right now and not sure if it will sustain until they get around to making super deluxe editions. Sure, the fanatics will still purchase, but the casual fan may not. From a fan's standpoint, the SDE are awesome, but I want some super sexy vinyl to spin. :D Repress the damn things.
  • They really are just missing out on cash by not repressing them. It makes no sense at all.

And coming from a band that has been "pro-vinyl" all this time.

I guess it all depends on where Vinyl goes from this point.

If Vinyl popularity stays where its at or continues to increase then I think they're better off holding off (if they plan on releasing boxsets).

If they don't plan on releasing more boxsets and/or they think vinyl popularity will want, then yes they are probably losing out on money.

I think there's more money in the boxsets and I don't think vinyl is going to subside in the next few years. I think they'd make more money reissuing the records at the same time the boxsets come out. If they've given up on the boxsets then they may as well re-release now.

I don't think they're losing out on any money releasing No Code/Yield now or two years from now. People will still buy it. If they sell it at the same time as the boxset... They'll probably make more money selling the boxsets than the individual records.
