The Lyrics - Do you know them all?

Let's be honest; we don't know the lyrics to every song they've ever written (wrong already: I'm sure there are people who pride themselves on knowing every single word, mumble, humm, groan and curse.) We miss a word here, miss how a verse starts there... but we just keep rollin with the punches. This leaves me feeling so alone at concerts during the sing alongs... I'll sing a lot of the song, but boyyyyyy do I ever forget SO many words.. words that as I hardcore fan, makes me feel so ashamed. I, for one, can't remember / don't know all their lyrics off by heart to many of PJ's songs (even some of the most popular ones) and I think for me, it's because I listen to the instruments more than the lyrics. I'm a musician at heart and I instinctively focus on and memorize the guitars and drums. My girlfriend on the other hand is a lyricist and, naturally, her brain is geared towards listening to the words. She knows 1/50th of the PJ songs I do, yet she knows the lyrics to PJ songs I've been listening to my whole life, where she's been listening for only a couple years. I find this very interesting and had to bring it up to everyone. Lyrics are not my strongest point; but slap a guitar in my hands and I can start picking apart a song almost instantly. Similarities out there?

I'll play the "honest" game right now. Off the top of my head (oh god, this is gonna be good):

Even Flow:

Oh oh freeeeeeezin.... rest his head on a pillow made of concrete..... again.
oh oh heeeeeeeelin.... maybe he'll see a better... sadder day.... ahhhyea
oh oh darrrrrrrk grin.... he can't help when he's happy he looks insane... yea

(fuck me... i'm failing already... missed a line and I can't for the life of me think of it off-hand)

Oh oh Eeeven Flowwwwww... thoughts arise like butterflies... yea
oh oh He don't knowwwww.... so he chases them awayyyyyy...mmmmm
oh something here.... he begins his life again..... Life again... life again... oh

eeeeeeelin....nah nah nah nah nah nah... (lost right now)
oh oh (sommmmmmethin...... fuck.. it's gone. totally gone.)
oh oh oh oh oh eeeeeeelin he don't show his... (fuck... this is bad)
ohohhohohoho (somthin er other for a while... nah nah nah) yea....

same chorus except it ends with

A whisperin hand... shall lead him away.....
lead him away.... him away.... YEA

oh no i'm never gonna fuck again...
SOLO

i got nothing to say x 4,000 or somethin

chorus

Now, to psychoanalyze myself... just remember this when you're responding....I'M SORRY! :fp:

That's my game. I have been trying to memorize as many songs as I can since 1998. I think I'm doing great so far. I've even learnt Sirens by heart already. Next goal: Mind Your Manners. :)

The only song harder to understand is YL. Don't feel bad, in just hum those!

    Wind this thing up.

It depends on the song. out of their ~150 original songs, I would say I know more than 90% of the lyrics to about 120 songs. Never took the time to learn Even flow as that is more about the solo 8-)

Ha! True. It's gotta be hard to remember all of those lyrics. I fuck up my own lyrics all the time.

    Ledbetter's a tricky one. ;)

Not even close. One of the things that drew me to this band originally was how impossible it was to decipher what Eddie was saying. The music became almost abstract art.

This is how I feel too! About the songs being like abstract art :D What drew me more to the band was how thoughtful and moving the lyrics are... after looking up a lot of the songs, lol

At shows I like to try to hear if Eddie changes some lyrics but usually have to listen to the boots to realize what he said.

Actually, I'm still working on them... To be honest, I have already read them many times on antiquiet.com and then memorized them. The thing is that the more I listen to that song the more I start questioning some of the antiquiet's lines: Is it: How to take your hand or Have to take your hand? I hold you close or I pull you close? Held you high above too or Weld you high above too? This life we live or This life we lead?

heres what i hear so far---i think im gettin close

hear the sirens, hear the circuits so profound...
i hear the sirens more and more in this here town...
let me catch my breath to breathe, and reach across the bed..
just to know we're safe iam a grateful man...
(cant figure out this line) but i can see clear,
how to take your hand, and feel your breath for fear this someday will be over...
i pull you close, so much to lose knowing that nothing last forever..
i didnt care before you were here...i danced in laughter with the ever-after...
but all things change...let this remain...

hear the sirens covering distance in the night...
the sound echoing closer, will they come for me next time?
every choice, mistake i made, its not my plan...
to send you in the arms of another man...
and if you choose to stay, i'll wait, i'll understand...
its a fragile thing, this life we lead...
if i think too much i can get overwhelmed 'bout the grace by which we live our lives with death over our shoulders..
i want you to know that should i go, i always loved you...held you high above too...
i study your face, and the fear goes away...

    Antiquiet and me: :)

    Hear the sirens
    Hear the circus, so profound
    I hear the sirens
more and more in this here town

Let me catch my breath to breathe
    and reach across the bed
    Just to know we’re safe
    I am a grateful man
This life has been a light
and I can see you clear
have to take your hand, and feel your breath
or feel this someday will be over
I pull you close, so much to lose
    knowing that nothing last forever
I didn’t care before you were here
    I danced in laughter
    with the ever-after
But all things change. Let this remain.

Hear the sirens covering distance in the night
The sound echoing closer, will they come for me next time?
Oh every choice, mistake I’ve made, it’s not my plan
to send you in the arms of another man
And if you choose to stay, I’ll wait, I’ll understand

It’s a fragile thing, this life we lead
If I think too much, I can get overwhelmed by the grace by which we live

our lives with death over our shoulders
Want you to know that should I go
I always loved you, held you high above too
I study your face, the fear goes away

If I think too much, I can get overwhelmed

our lives with death over our shoulders
Want you to know that should I go
I always loved you, held you high above too
I study your face, and the fear goes away
    The fear goes away
    The fear goes away
    The fear goes away

We have to wait for the booklet, I guess.

i see many hear "circus" in that beginning...doesn't "circuits" make alittle more sense?? a siren being an emergency circuit...

I don't hear "circuits" at all. I'm pretty sure it's "circus". Google the definition of circus:

    Informal use:
a public scene of frenetic and noisily intrusive activity.
