    is he better than gehrig?

No way. Longevity and the home run total would put him in the conversation without steroids.

.340/.447/.633 is nuts by any standard. Pretty crazy that arod is a year older than Gehrig was when he died. Such a shame. By all accounts a whole hell of a lot better guy too. My favorite Yankee outside of my generation.

Nova! Man, a pitcher a quarter of today would be pretty god damn helpful next year.

Ready for tomorrow? Gates open at 11 and monument park is completely closed. That means dudes getting a plaque and a retired number. Can you imagine of Metallica performs? Considering the gifts Geno got last year, I can't imagine what mo is gonna get. Should be interesting.

    First class all the way

Mo is fucking awesome. I thought that he might get a plaque today, still will someday. Also thought they might give him more but I guess $100k is pretty god damn impressive. Geno got trips and all. Then again, Mo probably has about $100 million more than him

Such a pleasure to watch Mo over the past 19 years. We are really fucking lucky.

Who wouldve guessed Mo would be such an eloquent speaker .
His salute to George , the NYY fans were just perfect.

Big laughs in his words for his parents too, who I was surprised to not see more of.

What a day. It sounds weird and creepy but these guys have been part of almost 2/3 of my life.

Really wish my old man was here to see this

Mo, Jeter, and Andy have been all I've known in baseball since I started watching in 1996. It's going to feel weird next year not seeing those two pitch.

Yeah, man. You have had a pretty good run.

Mattingly and the very late 80's early 90's teams were my first

I thought for sure Soriano was going to get the game-winning hit, It would have seemed fitting.

Great day except for the loss, which seems to be a signal that the playoffs are not meant to be this year.
