Opener hints

With Mudhoney opening Seattle and other Northwest dates and Midlake opening Texas and Oklahoma City, maybe it's a clue that the are picking openers that have some regional connections. Now I'm hoping for the Strokes or Gaslight Anthem (or both, one on each night) in NYC and maybe someone like Dropkick Murphy's in Worchester. Maybe Bad Religion in LA? The Roots or maybe G Love and Special Sauce in Philly?

My mind is racing now. Haha.

  • keep dreaming.... you'll get none of those bands. They can make more $$ headlining their own shows.

Pistoleros or Meat Puppets in Phoenix would be great if we're looking regional.

G Love is terrible...It would never happen.

That would probably make it more likely.
  • The band that is opening Dallas & OKC is total shit.... Why they had to do this is beyond me?

Obviously some local loser band paying their way to open for PJ.

I'm pretty sure the band like Midlake, I've heard them played on PJ Radio before. Might have been one of the impact tracks. Better than sleater kinney and ted leo, thats for sure.

I had never heard them before. I picked up The Courage of Others by them. Love it. Appreciate the suggestion Pearl Jam!

Midlake is pretty solid IMHO. I went to grad school at UNT in Denton, TX where this band went to music school and first got together. I've seen them a couple times at local music festivals there…I'll agree it's an odd pairing with PJ, but they are a great technical band and I'm looking forward to seeing them… curious to see how they get some energy going pre-PJ as they are usually a bit more laid back.

Have you ever listened to them? Midlake is a very good band. Listen to "Roscoe" and then tell me they are total shit.
  • they need to have Canadian bands open on their Canadian dates. Headstones, The Watchmen, Dearly Beloved, Matthew Good, Sloan (Foo used them).

Or I'd be ok with Juliette & The Licks. :D

Sloan would be great. I saw them open for the strokes and oasis years ago. Wasn't a huge sloan fan before but thought they were amazing live.

You're crazy. G Love is a great live show. Not necessarily suited for PJ but still...
