The Honor System?

Maybe I'm a little cynical or naive for asking, but I have a question. Let's say I wanted to trade an extra 10C Pittsburgh ticket for a Philly ticket. Since we don't actually get tickets until the day of the show, what is stopping someone from taking my Pittsburgh ticket and then never giving me their Philly ticket? I know we're all one big happy "Jamily" (sorry) but how do traders protect themselves? Has anyone been burned by this? Am I better off just selling my extra ticket? I've been burned in the past by 10c members who promise to buy tix and then cancel when they find something better on the day of the show - I can understand even though I don't agree with that, but trading is a different animal altogether. Thoughts?
I smile, but who am I kidding...

Nothing wrong with you asking for a PayPal deposit of Pittsburgh ticket price from your trader considering the 10 days difference between the shows. At least if they scumbag you, you'll have a little money to start trying to find a ticket at the Philly show or you can refund the payment once they hand you your Philly ticket.

Also, I tend to treat posts here like ebay feedback, and I review them as such and I make my judgement on that. I've never personally had a problem, but I'm usually the one with tickets to unload rather than in need.
  • sure has to do with trust..

another reason to love GA tix..the other guy will not want to check till last min for better seats-lower member number so cancel his deal with you..all Tix has the same falue..all 10c tix are the same and dont have to "search" anything else than just a GA spare...

hope all works ok for you..

I only trade with people who I see around here often or who I have heard good things about. Make sure you check that person's previous posts to see if they have ever had a transaction gone awry.

If you're nervous about your ticket buddy just ask for a security deposit on paypal... of course, if you're doing a swap, then the other person would probably also feel compelled to do that same thing, and you're both even again. I personally just went on honour system when I've done it, but I made friends with the person (chatted via PMs leading up to the show, talked on the phone shortly before, etc). If the person you're supposed to meet at the show, and presumably sit/stand with, isn't willing to strike up at least a friendly back and forth between the agreement and the show to build trust, I would cancel the deal and find a ticket elsewhere. That reminds me, I should PM my Vancouver ticket buddy and say hi. :P

I have gotten tix from people who rarely post, and people who I don't know, or have chatted with.

Some I have been connected with thru friends () or on FB and met some really amazing people, whom I now consider really good/close friends.

In my experience, I've exchanged numbers, and always offered Paypal.

Sure you take a chance, but isn't that what life is about?
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

  • Ask or pay for the 1st show ticket, then exchange the money again next time you meet. You still have the honor system for the next show ticket but at least no one is screwed over the cost of the ticket :ugeek: in case " something happened" :problem: .
So, What you Giving ?........ (Thanks Speedy, Alesek, & Arq+friends)
    What You Giving

I suggest you step out on your Porch.
