Poster sales at concerts

My boss is asking me to bring him a poster back from the Buffalo concert being its from his home town. I don't usually buy any posters and am not really wanting to carry one around during the concert. My question is, does anyone know what time they normally start selling posters at the shows? Does it depend on the establishment the concert is at or does the band set the time? Sorry, if this has been covered before, but I haven't seen anything in other posts and was just trying to verify. I was hoping I could pick it up early and take it back to my hotel room so I could enjoy the concert later that night without worrying about damaging his poster. Thanks everyone for your help. Hope everyone enjoys the upcoming tour.

For the last few tours...they have been setting up merch tables outside the venue a couple of hours (I think it was around 3pm in Missoula) before the doors open.
This does allow you to take your stuff back to your hotel or car, so you don't have to lug it around at the show!!
Try to arrive at the venue a few hours before doors open and I would definitely bring along a poster tube!!

Follow up to the original question...how quickly do the posters and other merch sell out? I have never been to a merch table for a PJ show and am just curious. I am going to the Phoenix show. Does it depend on the show or do the posters sell out no matter the show/location?"Not only do you have sunshine but you have better thunder...fuckers." -Ed, Phx 10/21/00

Posters are usually the first thing to go...but this can really depend on the artist & design of the poster!!Driftin'Along wrote:Follow up to the original question...how quickly do the posters and other merch sell out? I've been to some shows where posters were gone the first hour they went on sale & to others where there were still some left on my way out of the venue after the concert was over!!
T-shirts can sell out quickly too...especially if they have a GREAT sports-themed shirt, these seem to be the most popular.

I'm not sure if they'll do outdoor merch booths or not seeing as this tour is more in the fall/winter than the last tour was more in late summer/early fall.
Outdoor merch booths are awesome though. You can buy yout shit and stash it at the hotel or in your car.0 -
Cool, thanks for the replies.0

Well, Phoenix isn't known as a GREAT sports town so I don't have that to worry about, unless they incorporate a coyote into the art since the show is at the Coyote's stadium. I couldn't care less who the artist is or what is pictured, I just want to finally own a poster. Last question...what is the price of the posters usually? Do prices change based on artist/design?"Not only do you have sunshine but you have better thunder...fuckers." -Ed, Phx 10/21/00

Posters were $35 for the last few tours including the show at Wrigley.Driftin'Along wrote:derbydave wrote:

Show edition posters are pretty much the same no matter the design or artist!!

Since there is GA going this time around I hope they go back to the system used a few years ago where you bought a poster, got a bracelet, and then after the show traded that bracelet in for a poster."Populated with every reject and cutthroat from Bombay to Calcutta. It's worse than Detroit."0

I heard at Wrigley people were waiting 4-5 hours in line for posters. Surely not all shows are like that as I have no intention of waiting that long in line. I'd just tell him they sold out.0

The lines at WRIGLEY were BAD...and they had 2 merch stands on Thursday and 4 on Friday!!
Missoula was pretty bad too...people waited 3 hours or more for posters there!!

They usually put posters up in the Shop after the shows so if you don't get one I wouldn't consider it and end-all at that time."There's a $10,000 bill in it for you."
"Oh yeah? Which president's on it?"
"Uh, all of them. They're having a party. Jimmy Carter's passed out on the couch."

There are too many posters & merchandise freaks here, although I admit I own a few :shifty: . Most shows the posters are available before & during the show. Like stated before, bring a tube. 10C also has been having poster sales after the tour for All the shows. Wrigley had 40,000 people (mostly freaks
) so don't think that is the norm :ugeek: . You shouldn't have too much of a problem in Buffalo, not the highest in demand as far as I'm concerned
. So, What you Giving ?........ (Thanks Speedy, Alesek, & Arq+friends)
What You Giving
I suggest you step out on your Porch.
Run away my son. See it all. Oh, See the World!0 -
- Typically there are merch stands outside the venue so fans can pre-purchase before entering the show.
Hope that helps.

I was one of the people who waited in line for 5 hours at Wrigley.
By the time I was close enough to see the merchandise stand they had sold out of anything that I wanted.
I liked the way they did things for the 2010 tour (I think). Posters were sold online.
One thing though. Standing in line wasn't bad because I did get to meet some really great people

There is a petition to bring back the pre-sale. But I doubt that is happening so don't hold your breath.
