A Pearl Jam fan came to the rescue of frontman Eddie Vedder in New York last week (ends4Jul08) after the rocker's girlfriend left an iPhone full of personal photos on the back seat of a cab.

The devotee was flicking through the snaps of Pearl Jam, Vedder, pregnant model Jill McCormick and their four year old daughter Olivia, when Vedder rang the phone in a bid to track it down.

The kindhearted fan agreed to divert his taxi to the pair's Manhattan hotel and drop it off. According to the New York Daily news, a grateful Vedder rewarded the good Samaritan with an engraved Zippo lighter, a note of thanks and $500 (GBP250).

The rocker recently completed a string of concerts in the city with Pearl Jam, and announced on Wednesday (9Jul08) he will return next month for two solo gigs at New York's historic United Palace Theatre

    I woulda had to shoot a text message to the rest of the guys in the band to tell them we were playing a "secrect show". (Meet at such and such bar at 7:00...and bring some hot chicks.) Then when Ed calls I'd tell him I could only meet at such and such bar at 7. Then I'd go there and make em put on a show just for me in exchange for Jill's phone. Oh...and I woulda shot some texts to all of Jill's model friends and told them to come too. Coolin' out with models and rockin' out to some ransomed pj sounds chill.

    That woulda been the shizzy.

    HAHAHA, that's some funny shit man, who doesn't love themselves some ransomed PJ. Good story though, nice of the fan to give it back, and nice of Eddie to give a reward.
