Ok, so I have been contemplating getting a PJ related tattoo. I was actually at a tattoo shop this past weekend, ready to get one. I chickened out because I want some opinions....

What do the Faithfull think of the Stickman tattoo? I really want to get it because it is a universal symbol of my love for the band but I don't want to seem like a fairweather fan because i am anything but. I have some other ideas, like the Eddie Vedder wave and some gems and rhinestones. But I really want the stickman and I want to make it my own by adding a pink bow in it's hair :D

    Random thoughts?

I feel that there is no other Pearl Jam tattoo to get if you want an instantly recognizable symbol of the band. I'm all for it. I'll be getting one eventually.

Do it. No pink bow, stick to the original.

I knew a girl back in the day that put a red, whit and blue stickman around her shoulder blade area. Didn't look so good.
  • i got it when i was 18. im 38 now. got it for me and no-one else. still love it

My wife just got a PJ tattoo last month.

She loves it. She mused over it for a long time, and, while she won't admit it, part of that musing I'm sure was along the lines of if her love for the band would last. After 10 years, it's only gotten stronger, so the tat happened. It's her third, but her first "meaningful" one.

If you're going to get a tat that means something, make sure it *really* means something. But get it. Personally, I'm not a fan of the "pink bow on a stickman" tattoo, but personally, I'm not a fan of you giving a shit one way or another what I think. I'm not the one putting it on my body, you are. And if you love it, that's what matters.

If you're getting a tattoo for what others think, you shouldn't get one.

  • I have a Stickman tattoo on my left arm, with the bands name above it.

    Just got this done yesterday.

If you need to ask random people if you should get a certain tattoo, you probably shouldn't get said tattoo.

You should get what feels right. if you have any dou ts, then don't do it. But since you're asking for opinions, here is mine: there is nothing wrong with the stickman. Fair weather fans don't get tattoos, whatever it is of. Stickman is classic, and that's okay. But I wouldn't add a pink bow if I were you. I think that would be kind of weird. It would kind of compromise the symbol and meaning and make it look like an infant or something. Other more original tats would be cool too, but IMO the gems and rhinestones idea is like nails on a chalkboard to me. A lot of people, myself included, think that line almost ruins the whole song, it's so cheesy.

but again, do what feels right, and if it doesn't and you are not 100% sure about your choice, don't do it!

Sorry and I really don't intend to offend anybody but I just think tattoos are bad idea. I would strongly recommend the idea of a stick man shirt instead. Tattoos are so permanent. At the place I work, if I were interviewing people for employment, and one of the candidates was the valedictorian of the top college but visibly had tattoos and/or piercings, the interview would be over. I just can't put that in front of customers. I know some people will probably take offense but I don't intend to offend anybody. All I am saying is that tattoos are very permanent and when you get something done like that which is so permanent in nature, I just hope you take a while to think about the positive aspects about that decision but don't take lightly the negative side as well. Whatever your decision is personal and I respect that. I just want to make sure you weigh the future ramifications. Best regards.
That's all fine and dandy, but I seriously doubt she is planning on putting the tattoo on her face or anything. I have coworkers who don't know I've got a tattoo after working with them for 11 years, and that is on my ankle, so visible if I'm not wearing full length pants. So I seriously doubt that a tattoo anywhere other than her face or upper chest, neck, or hands is going to have any consequences. Also, tats aren't THAT permanent. you can get them removed with laser surgery.

I just saw an image of an itty bitty stickman tattoo and I thought it would look good on my ankle. Maybe I'll get it when I reach a running goal.
