Great initial post! Agree with many of your points and I'm equally frustrated at the entitlement that many fans seem to have.
I am happy this has been announced. The last Aussie tour was pretty much the same. One show in each city. In '95, '98, '03 we were so spoilt with multiple shows in cities but the reality now is the guys are getting older. 11-12 Australian shows would take its toll on performers in their 30's let alone late40's/early50's like PJ.
185 dollars IS NOT expensive! Our US friends may see that way but the average Aussie CAN afford this. Just make the cut back on other things for a month or two.
The last tour was 130 dollars for one ticket! Just think including Pearl Jam you get Arcade Fire, Tame Impala, Mudhoney plus many others and also there's always a second announcement. All for an additional 55 dollars.
Thank you very much Pearl Jam! Perth tickets purchased and can't wait to hear the new record!I had it all once I gave it back0 -
Pearl Jam & BLUR. Thats an insane line up! Definitely considering a trip down under againtheserialthrilla wrote:Sealed vinyl is bad vinyl.

Well said. A lot of people will change their tunes here after they experience the disorganisation and crowds at BDO.My Pearl Jam concert footage:http://youtube.com/profile_videos?user=twojawas&search_query=pearl+jam&search=Search

Ty wrote:...how many of you "fans" have reacted to our favourite band coming to Australia to tour the nation on Australia's premier music festival, the Big Day Out.
So many people whinging about the type of crowd at the BDO, when I bet they haven't been to a BDO in years. I have. I have been to 11 since '99, and they have been fantastic days. I have seen some amazing acts in the early days of their careers (White Stripes on a sidestage in the arvo, same with Kings Of Leon, Death Grips last year).
Drunk bogans ruining it? I'd much rather some drunk dude standing next to me singing at the top of his lungs with his can of beer held high, yelling all the words to Alive or Given To Fly and wanting to hear Betterman next... than stand next to some grumpy 35 year old who feels like Pearl Jam have betrayed him by not playing 3 arena shows in their home city. Your younger self would be ashamed at your attitude!
So it's $185. It's steep, but you get to see some huge acts play full sets (Blur, Arcade Fire, Snoop Dogg), plus Mudhoney, Tame Impala and Cosmic Psychos! And from memory the last time PJ toured tickets were like $130 anyways, 4-5 years ago.
Pearl Jam have played festivals all over the world since their earliest days until Lollapalooza in South America this year. Fans have only been appreciative, in all instances! But us privileged Aussies... it's not good enough for us! We want them to recreate our best concert memory, start an "** Official Petition **" requesting some B-side, and play in our city to our timetable.
Ten Club couldn't announce it earlier due to being contracted to BDO. But they still arranged an exclusive pre-sale that started this morning and was a breeze to use. I bet no one had trouble getting tickets. No lottery. Just a password... and done! Tickets!
It's disheartening seeing a lot of people cry that they feel cheated by the band. Grow up. Don't go to the BDO. Easy. You have a choice. I, for one, will enjoy the hell out of it!
I need a break from this forum... it's a terrible place at the moment. Same with the Ten Club Members Facebook page... mostly a joke! Be grateful, people! Our favourite band is coming down under!

Tremendously great post, OP.
Nice to see the other side of the world has whiners and complete idiots, too (wouldn't the lower ticket price you're whining for allow more bogans to attend?). Infantile and stupid is no way to go through life.
Good job, OP saying that message much nicer than I just did.
Enjoy the shows and stop your bitching.Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -
If Pearl Jam come to Europe next year and only played festivals and no arena dates I would be slightly disappointed but I'd still look forward to seeing them regardless and look forward to catching some other acts on the bill. It's nice to mix it up no and again and this anti-festival attitude that is rife in this community is a bit daft and I've never seen it with any other bands so strong.
They love Australia and they'll be back to do arenas before you know it. If you're that against festivals well there are plenty of other bands who could do with your money and support who struggle to even make a basic living playing music so go buy tickets and maybe discover someone new.0 -

I didn't really pay attention until now, but is this correct ?? - this is one big festival, being played in various cities in NZ and AU? And PJ is playing it in each city on their trip down under?
I'm not a huge festival fan, but as a PJ fan, you take what you can get. That is a hefty price though.Don't come closer or I'll have to go0 -
Rome is beautiful and I would certainly recommend a few days there, Pearl Jam or no.0

I haven been to a festival in a very long time. So whats the deal? Do you pretty much need to get there early and go straight to that stage? 11am till probably 8 or so is a looooong time to be getting absolutely roasted in the summer sun.0

Maybe use some of your own advice.. If you don't like it, don't read it! And better still, don't shoot people down by telling them to grow up when all they are doing is expressing their opinion! This is a forum, that's what it is for..Maybe take that break...
