American who needs help understanding British ways

Someone, anyone from Europe explain, the whole birth thing. I have tons of questions.

    In order for a baby to be made, it needs to be sired. From that point on, their rank in society is often tied to how much land and nobel titles they have inherited from their father.

    It's much different from the States where a baby is made by make'n bacon and are left to be governed on their own after six years of being taught how to forage by their mother.

    I'm completely flummoxed by how much attention this has garnered. This isn't at all directed toward the OP (I too had no idea how the title thing works), but holy shit...it's not like WE'RE having the baby.

    Funnily enough our media are covering how much more interested US media is in the whole thing than anyone else :lol: Apparently 47% of all tweets in respect of the birth yesterday originated in the US. So I guess a question from a Brit. Why do you guys care?

    And yup he is a prince.

    Who knows why we care. It's been pretty hard to escape the news coverage although I haven't heard anyone actually talking about it.

    And for those who don't remember, there was just as much hoopla if not more when Prince William was born. I was working with an English lady at the time and she would not allow ANY joking or criticism in her presence.

    Speaking from experience, most Brits don't give a fuck about the Royal family. They're really just a gimic for tourists, like The Hard Rock Cafe, and 'I love London' t-shirts.

    The royal family have no real power, do they? How does that family make money? Are any taxes paid to them?
