I know they all met up in 1990 and did their first show on 10/22/90 as Mookie Blaylock, but can there be a precise date as to when they all became a band? I'm sure it's documented.

Good question. Would it be the day that Eddie made the mamasan dub or would it be the day he arrived in Seattle?0 -

I guess when Ed made that tape that was basically his first contribution towards the band.11/6/95, 11/18/97, 7/13/98, 7/14/98, 10/24/00, 10/25/00, 10/28/00, 6/2/03, 6/3/03, 6/5/03, 7/6/06, 7/7/06, 7/9/06, 7/10/06, 7/13/06, 7/15/06, 7/16/06, 7/18/06, 10/21/06, 4/10/08, 4/13/08, 9/30/09, 10/1/09, 10/6/09, 10/7/09, 10/9/090 -

10-22-90 is a pretty good marker. I guess before that you could make the case that it was the day ev went surfing and came up with the lyrics for alive, once, and footsteps. Or perhaps the moment they spoke to ev and decided he was the guy they wanted to work with as their frontman.0

Personally, I would date it at whatever day (I have no clue of the date to answer your question) Ed first came to Seattle and they first recorded/rehearsed (or whatever they did that first day) as the exact date of when they began. The date Ed did the mamasan was like an audition in my mind. And I know a lot of people use 10/22/90, but I don't correlate a first show as the day a band begins. For me it didn't start til they all got in one room together and starting putting shit together.

I hear what you're saying but I've been in a few bands and most of them never played a note in front of anyone. Personally, I consider those just rehearsals and don't actually count them as being a "band" unless we'd played a gig. But maybe that's just me. Anyway, that's why I consider 10/22 the date. It's also my birthday, which is pretty cool.0 -
The day I started listening to them.
