Hoping for Set List Shirts for Tour...
I like the Set List shirts from Wrigley. I didn't even hear about them til the next day. I was pretty much done with the merch lines after the show and was on a mission to get the rental car from the parking garage before Lincoln Tow got there.
...
Here's a plan and see if you like it...
Allow the people who won tickets for the shows on the tour the option to pre-purchase one shirt. Their seat mate can wait in line at the venue if he/she wants one.
The shirt can have a generic logo on the front, with the exception of the city and date printed just below it. On the back, the Set List from the show that night.
...
oh... and give the option to pre-purchase one poster, sight unseen for the lottery ticket winner.
...
Hell... I'd even pay a little more for the pre-purchase, just to avoid more merch lines.

terrible idea and won't happen. The set always has audibles called on stage and during the breaks-
Let me please get a shirt with songs that weren't even played ?!?!? :nono:0 -
Don't see this happening. Wrigley's set list was pored over for 2 months (or more) - and it's still wrong on the shirt due to circumstances!!!
These set lists will be made on the fly, so logistical nightmare unless they sell here after - which won't work either, because this is a clear impulse buy item.
And do you wonder how the set list was able to leak? Someone other than the band had to have it to create those.
Again, nothing's impossible, but I see that as a product of the one off event it was.Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -
But, don't they do this at the Super Bowl? Have the shirts preprinted except for the winning team's name?
...
The Wrigley shirts were 'hot off the press'... meaning, they were printed during the gig. The shirts were still warm when they were selling them after the show let out.
The Set Lists are Xeroxed and distributed to key crew members, not just the band. They don't don't just come up with the set list and run on to the stage. So, there is some lead time.
The printing process can take place during the show... the number can be limited.
...
Also, most set lists have songs that weren't played...for some reason or another.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

or....
sell the shirts a few weeks after the shows in the online shop with the printed setlist.
or...
when the bootlegs become available for each show, have the option to buy a "setlist shirt" also.
or....

I really don't like the setlist shirts (even though I ended up buying them anyway!). If they do it, they shouldn't make it available right after the show because the shirts will either have an incorrect set list, or the band will feel the need to stick to their original set list as opposed to switching things up the way they always have. Either of these are lose-lose in my opinion.
Demetrios, they were $35, same as the rest of the Ts.0 -

I like this idea. But would rather have a bootleg CD + DVD per show combo, if offered.
$35 U.S.
Saw one on E-Bay for $125 U.S.

My friend told me about them being still warm from the printing process when she got one.

I like the pre order poster idea. My only thing is what if the poster sucks then I'm stuck with a crap poster. Also most shows won't be crazy for merch lines. I'm not worried about not being able to get in line for a poster maybe a sweatshirt this year. My PJ hoodie is looking rough and it might be time for anther one.
But I agree everyone who won 10c tixs should be able to at least pre order one poster/shirt.My butt itches!0 -

It is especially good for those who got General Admission Tickets. It's a pain in the ass to have a poster in the pit... and you don't want to wait in merch lines with a pit ticket.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

No they don't. They have t-shirts pre-printed for both teams as Champions. That's why there's millions of Ethiopian adults right now that think the Buffalo Bills are the best team in the history of the NFL (that sounds bad if you don't understand that that is honestly where they send the losers' pre-printed shirts).
So, if you want them to pre-print every possible set list then trash the shirts - good idea.
And I left this out of your quote - but who wants a shirt with songs they didn't play?Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -

Agreed. The last three shows I have been to two of them the merch tents were outside the arena. So you could have a line buddy while you go get your stuff.
Atlanta '12 I bought my poster the day before. Oddly enough the place was not packed for the Foo Fighters that night before. My butt itches!0 -

No. You get the shirt (and poster) in the mail... after the show. They send it to your home.
This way, you don't have to mess with the merch line on the day of the show and still get stuff... only if you pre-order it.
You don't have to order it... it is optional.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

One more thing....
The Los Angeles Dodgers do this for the beach chair give-away night and it works perfectly. Who the hell wants to sit through a 9 inning game holding a beach chair?
No one does. So the Dodgers gave the first 50 thousand fans a "beach chair" voucher right as they walked through the gates. Fans simply mailed the voucher in (all that is required is your name and address), and their chair arrives in 2 weeks. Worked flawlessly. Fans technically paid for the chair in advance when they purchased their ticket, chair arrived at home in right around 14 days. Simple as that0 -
I liked the setlist shirts from 2000... Still rock my Columbus one occasionally.

This can be done.
A mobile printing system can print up the the setlist when it becomes available. The Set List is written and distributed to key crew members way before show time.
Sure, things don't always go as plan... 'Hard To Imagine' was on the set list for Santa Barbara, but was not played. The ink does not vanish if the song isn't played. It is a copy of the paper set list taped to the floor during the show.
...
I just think it would be cool of the Ticket Lottery was given the OPTION to pre-purchase the poster and show specific shirt ahead of time in order to aleviate the merch line stuff on the day of the show. Because... and maybe it's just me... but, i would rather hang out with friends rather than stand in a merch line for an hour.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions!
