My inlaws and wife did the boat tour. They enjoyed it alot. If its hot out, they go out into the lake a bit. Free air conditioning!0

Generally speaking, the boat tour is much more popular.0

Would definitely recommend the Architecture Boat tour!
And if you have extra time, would also recommend renting bikes and going along the lakefront (ie., Belmont Harbor south to Navy Pier or Shed Aquarium/Alder Planetarium) ... all on a bike path!0 -
Do you care if people look at you strange as the weird guy on the Segway? If so, go for the boat. If not, still go for the boat, because seriously, you look like a dork.

Just making fun, I'd still recommend the boat tour though.1998: East Troy 2000: East Troy, Rosemont 2003: Champaign 2006: Chicago (UC), Milwaukee 2007: Chicago (Lolla) 2009: Chicago (UC), Chicago (UC) 2010: Noblesville 2011: East Troy (PJ20), East Troy (PJ20) 2013: Chicago (WF), Seattle 2014: St. Louis 2016: Chicago (WF), Chicago (WF) 2018: Chicago (WF), Chicago (WF) 2022: St. Louis 2023: Chicago (UC), Chicago (UC) 2024: Chicago (WF), Chicago (WF)2025: Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh0 -
My wife and I just visited Chicago for the first time over the week of the 4th of July. We did the 75 minute architectural boat tour offered by Wendella Boats and thought it very enjoyable. Neither of us are architecture buffs in the least, and we both found it interesting. It was a little pricey, but overall we both thought it was worth it. We didn't get a chance to visit the Art Institute, but a friend of mine who lived in Chicago for a few years while her husband was at Booth highly recommended it.
On a side note, if you're looking for a great place to eat (and you eat meat), be sure to check out The Purple Pig, it was excellent. It's at the south side of the Magnificent Mile, near where most of the boat tours start.Post edited by SDNick484 on0 -
