Broad question I know, but what would you all say are the all time greatest, most beautiful, most romantic songs written about love, the feeling of being in love, unrequited love etc... All of it.

Im gonna go with a basic one, but one that expresses it all and in such a basic way.

I Want to Hold Your Hand-The Beatles. I'd also say Wonderwall

There is one song by the German band Element of Crime that I love. It's a little weird, but defo a love song. I love it because it sounds so poetic :)
    This is the song:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cta8QtiUMNE

The lyrics could be translated like this:
    Buy a bag of lead
    Tie it to my leg,
    Throw me into
    The Lake of your wishes
    And watch how I sink.
Then spend the rest of the day
    Combing your hair.

Get a collar made of velvet
    Put it on me
    Lead me around
in the thicket of your thinking
And watch how I get lost.
Then spend the rest of the day
    Filing your nails.

Get an oven made of glass
    Heat it up
    Then put me
Into the fire of your anger
And watch how I endure it
Then spend the rest of the day
    Rubbing your eyes.
    But don't wait ...
    Too long.

Check out 'Faster Than You Know' written by my good friend Matt. One of my all time favorite songs ever - and I think it's about love.

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Into My Arms
And I planted my bolo knife in the neck of mad John Finn. I took his wretched life.
Now I'm over near the bandstand, every hand moving on John Finn's wife...

PJ Harvey writes great love songs too. Stories from the city, stories from the sea is so optimistic without being cheesy. I love "You Said Something"
