Ten years ago today one of the greatest PJ performances (in my humble opinion)
Was 7/3/03 (night #2 of the Boston experiment )
With all the focus on the famous 7/11/03 (night #3) this boot often gets overlooked.
If you are a Mikey fan at any level, grab this boot... He is a wah wah maniac:
(Check out solos on Animal; Love Boat Captain; You Are; Corduroy and a guitar / organ battle with BOOM on Crazy Mary that brought the house down! (You can hear it in the boot too). And they didn't hold back these classics for the third night, spoiling night #2 with Release; Daughter/ Wma; Rival; I got Shit; Once ; Alive; baba..
Great Saturday night warm summer night Great Woods crowd (we were LOUD)
Crank this one up tonight while you are grilling out there folks!
07/03/03 - Tweeter Center for the Performing Arts: Mansfield (Boston), MA
set: Release, Animal, Gods' Dice, Do The Evolution, Insignificance, Love Boat Captain, I Got Shit, Low Light, Rival, Lukin, Not For You, Daughter/(WMA)/(I've Been Tired), You Are, In Hiding, I Am A Patriot, Once, Rearviewmirror
enc 1: Driven To Tears, Corduroy, Soldier Of Love, Crazy Mary, Alive
enc 2: Baba O'Riley, Yellow Ledbetter

That was my only show of those three. It was outstanding. I was listening to the boot this morning on the way to work. Love that one.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

It was a great show...but I left thinking they should've played on like the first show. I got this vibe that the powers to be made them end the show 15 minutes early. IMHO that lowered this show into the worst of the 3....

Not having these shows memorized, I had to go look at the set for night 3 as well. I understand it was a much longer show, however I would still take the following over set 2 any day of the week:

    Of the Girl
    All Those Yesterdays
    Footsteps
    Parting Ways
    Can't Keep
    Green Disease
    Tremor Christ
    Ghost
    Breath

Maybe the atmosphere was better, I have no idea. Even if the pre set was not a factor, I like the read of night 3.
But I bet night 2 was good as well :)

    Three nights only one repeat.
I can't understand why all three were not a "must attend".
My PJ stats went thru the roof after this!
People who went to Philly 2009 had a similar motivation I assume?

To be honest, my favorite of the three was the first night ... 7/2.

The energy of the first night, the jaws dropping when EV announced the plan to play every song over three nights ...

    Starting off ...

    Oceans
    Go
    Hail, Hail
    Save You
    Deep

I listen to this one OFTEN.

As for Corin Tucker ... my post from the PJ Radio thread ...

Ya they are the cause of it. A trailer park in Norton forcing the town of Mansfield to make archaic policies. Funny thing is that 99% of the people that live there, even in 03, moved there when there already was a Great woods.

    Ok I have to vent...
This thread is titled best boot nobody's heard.
I hoped it would motivate those who weren't there or haven't heard it to go to pearljam bootlegs online (or wherever) and give it a listen.
I'm proud to say I went to all three nights of the Boston Experiment.
Loved them all! Each set was completely different.
This thread is not about good, better, best.
Save that for another thread maybe..
Just on the ten year anniversary , thought some Pjammers across the globe would give this show a play..
It's a gem worth celebrating on its 10 year anniversary .
    Just give it a listen...

Oh by the way, its also my first (wait for it....!)

    In Hiiiiiiiiiiinding yeh Yeeeeah!

    Ed's got a great pre-song story...

    Enjoy!

This was the beginning of my disdain for bringing on the opening act singer to a duet :fp:
