Flac downloads

When I download a flac and put it on my ipod there is no cover work and sometimes it doesn't go with the rest of my Pearl Jam but into a new category. I am converting them to apple lossless so could that be the cause of losing the covers

I just downloaded an HD flac for the first time (Sao Paulo 13) and it will not sync with my ipod though it will play in itunes.

Can anyone help me with this, Cheers.

Hi. I can't help sorry but I'm snagging coz I too am trying to workout the flac thing. I got my 1st flac download the other day, did a comparison playing the mp3 vs flac just on my computer & OMFG the difference was amazing so now I'm trying to work out howTF to deal with flac files. For example how do I burn them to a CD to play in my stereo? Windows Media Player doesn't seem to deal with them. TIA. :)

Looks like imac at home also does not get along well with Flac files. I downloaded some programme from internet, which claims converting flac files to Apple-compatible but it also didnot do any magic trick. I am a litlle bit computer illiterate so I feel like sailing blind in stormy waters, while dealing with this kind of thing.
What's your part, who you are?

I use Foobar2000 to convert flac files to wav files. Then I burn them to disc (unlike mp3 files, there is no click between tracks when you burn the disc at once). Then I rip the CD to iTunes.

Hmmm, ok, I think I have foobar. What do you mean about "no click between tracks"? Do you mean it doesn't have tracks, just one big long album?

So basically, people with flac knowledge, how do you play/listen to the albums?

The CD has seperate tracks. It's just that when I listen to live albums that are in mp3 format, there are discernible clicks between each track (even if you have burned an mp3 cd as a gapless one). flac converted to wav eliminates this little click.

Hope this makes sense. Convert flac to wav, burn as gapless cd, import to itunes. By gapless, I mean no space between tracks (you can skip to and from each track, just that there is no 2 second gap between tracks)

Oh ok, the gap between tracks doesn't worry me. I don't use itunes anymore & I don't think my android phone will play wav tracks.

There is a program called burn4free. It decodes the flac files as it burns automatically so you are burning CD-DA red book audio CDs without gaps. What you do with them after that is your choice.

reviving this cuz I'm still confused. What if I don't want to burn to cd? I have some shows in flac format and want to play them on my ipod. So I just want to convert to mp3 and sync to my phone through iTunes. Is this negating the goodness of the flac? Would it be better to burn to a disc and then upload to iTunes? How do I go about any of this? I'm a little slow on this stuff so anybody who is willing to take my hand and guide me through this? :? I appreciate any tips

Have you MAC users tried an app called XLD. It's the best flac converter I've used. Very simple, very quick and gives stunning results. I never artwork or tags etc. best part is - its free

It's all a bit confusing & not straight-forward isn't it? I finally got my 1st album in flac format a couple of weeks ago & I have an android phone, not iphone, so I can play the album but no artwork + I still haven't worked out how to burn the flac files to CD to play in my stereo at home. I can of course play through my phone to my stereo at home butttt......

    Hello,

Will iTunes plan an ALAC file. I'm reading user reviews of the XLD software that was recommended in an earlier post... it simply mentions that XLD is great software for converting FLAC files to ALAC files to be played on an iPhone. I don't have an iPhone, I'm concerned with the ALAC files being playable through iTunes. Thank you for your help and advice. Have a good week.
