My rfavorite live album is Mansfield, Massachusetts July 11, 2003. It's three discs, the first disc is a live set will mellow relaxed feels, the second is the start of the night session, and disc three the finish, a lot of great songs, perfomed with emotion and a great sound.

I've been enjoying the new Washington boot lately. I've always loved Live on Two Legs and love the PJ sound during the '98 tour.

Out of the concerts I've been too I always enjoy listening to the Cincinnati 2006 boot. Great, loud crowd, sing-a-longs, and the band was in a great mood. Up until someone threw a copy of Rolling Stone on the stage with Eddie on the cover and requested "The Kids Are Alright"

"I already played it, asshole. At 7:30."
"There's a $10,000 bill in it for you."
"Oh yeah? Which president's on it?"
"Uh, all of them. They're having a party. Jimmy Carter's passed out on the couch."

Based on the title I thought you meant the band Live. Then I wasn't sure if it was just a PJ thread. Man, I'm having a rough day... :fp:

MSG 2010, 2nd night. They came out like a sledgehammer to start the show and you can hear the crowd singing even in the non-sing along songs like Corduroy and Breathe.

Vic Theatre, particularly with the All or None opener and the whole setlist was great. Although Ben Harper singing Indifference wasn't very good.

In general, I think the Boots from 2009 to today are much better than the older ones (official releases aside). When you listen on high end equipment, I think there is a huge difference.

I find that to be third behind "Mental Jewelry" and "The Distance to Here."

    PJ? Mmmm, changes frequently.
I am going to go with a top two of:
    1. Live on 2 Legs (I listened to that SO many times before I had the other boots, like many of us....easily the most listened to PJ live recording for me)
    2. Buenos Aires 2013 - my favorite of the moment. Crowd is amazing just sounds like an awesome time and pumps me up for Chicago, although I know as a crowd we wont be like a B.A. crowd.

    Non-PJ?
I love the Metallica S&M album. I certainly like their normal stuff better and always have but the mixture of the band with the orchestra is pretty awesome to me.

    SO many to choose from!
The love he receives is the love that is saved

    If you are talking Non-PJ...

    1. Jimi Plays Monterey. Classic. Even better to watch the film and see him playing solos with his teeth and behind his back.
    2. Allman Brothers, Live from the Fillmore East in 1971. Duane was unbelievable and Greg was perfect.
    3. Neil Young - 1971 Massey Hall. When he was at his writing peak and his voice is perfect. If you don't have this, PM me.
    4. Dave Matthews - Live at Central Park 2003. If you only barely like DMB, this is a great show. You can't play it loud enough.
    5. Pink Floyd - Boston 1976 (or even Pompeii). Previews of Animals songs with alternative lyrics and names, Like Raving and Drooling (played like Sheep)

    Going with a non-PJ list:

    Rush - Exit Stage Left
    Tommy Emmanuel - Center Stage
    Pink Floyd - Pulse
Bill Evans - Sunday at the Village Vanguard
John Coltrane - Live at Birdland
RATM - Live At The Grand Olympic Auditorium
    Jimmy Smith - Root Down
    Nirvana - Unplugged
    Rory Gallagher - Live
    Hendrix - Live at Winterland
    Primus - Suck On This
Zep - How The West Was Won
Joe Satriani - Live In San Francisco
Talking Heads - The Name of This Band is Talking Heads
    Shootyz Groove - Live J.I.V.E.
    Phish - WAY too many shows to even think about listing just 1. 6/11/94, 8/17/97, 12/1/95, 3/22/93, 11/4/90, 7/25/92, 12/29/97, 6/19/04, 12/1/03, 12/31/95, 10/31/94, 6/18/94, 4/3/98. ARGH.
    Billy Cobham - Shabazz
Wes Montgomery - Smokin' at the Half Note
Al Di Meola/John McLaughlin/Paco de Lucia - Friday Night In San Francisco
Miles Davis - Tough choice. Maybe Live @ the 1963 Monterey Jazz Festival?

I agree with these picks. I have all of these. Down by the River on Massey Hall is awesome. I was never a DMB fan until I was stuck in bed for 6 weeks back in 2003, recoverying from an intense surgery, my son bought me Central Park CD and that changed my mind about Dave Matthews. When I was in high school, I saw the Animals Pink Floyd tour- awesome- they had huge blown up animals floating overhead. Then I would add PJ State College 2003 to this list and all would be well with the world!!!!

SiriusXM has been playing this show throughout this week. :)

I had very casually debated going to the show, but didn't end up going. It would have meant missing something else.

Anyway, my favorite PJ boots are probably the first night of the two straight in the Gorge, Buenos Aries 2010, Columbus 2010 and Philly Halloween.

My favorite "Live" album is Throwing Copper.

In terms of non-PJ, probably the Collective Soul "Home" they did with the Atlanta Youth Symphony. I'm not a big DMB fan, but I respect the triple live CD he did, the one where I think one CD was yellow, another was green and the third was blue.

Guys, now I have to assume the unpleasant role of forum cop.

This non-PJ live show discussion, although it is great, should go to Other Music.

PJ live shows are generally discussed under forum Given to Fly. There is a thread there named like, "which boots are you listening to now?".

    Sorry.

You have to give other forums a chance, as well. :corn:
