decoder. it was both nights of bridge school benefit sort of peiced together on one disc. 96 i think. it was after the neil young bridge school volume 3 disc came out with a sample of pearljam's nothingman. the decoder disc was really cool i thought. i liked the cover, it being a purple jelly jar with the shoreline ticket stub on it. i have lost the disc (stupid folder someone stole) but still have the jewel and booklet. i found it at a record store and thought it was the most rare thing, and soon record stores became an addiction!!

    No Fuckin' Messiah!!!

It was pre-Vitalogy days, had some wrong song titles (Last Exit=3 Days), the 2nd SNL performance, and some early Ten era acoustic stuff.

    Best $30 ever spent!

The first unofficial bootleg that I purchased was called (I think) "Abducted From The Land Of Deli Tray". I used to go to Revolver Records on 8th St. in Greenwich Village for all of my bootleg stuff...$20 per disc was a little crazy but I can't tell you how many Friday nights I ended up in that store after I got paid looking to purchase some bootleg cd's or VHS tapes.

This is the info I was able to find online about it:

Title : Abducted in the Land of Deli Tray
Label : Strangled Records [STR 001]
Venue : Civic Theatre: San Diego, CA 11/3/93
    Length : 75:00
    Source : unknown audience recording
    Sound : B
    Tracks : 1. Release 9. Hold Me
    2. Animal 10. Porch
    3. Jeremy 11. Elderly Woman
    4. Rearviewmirror 12. Whipping
    5. Go 13. Glorified G
    6. Dissident 14. Sonic Reducer
    7. Daughter 15. Baba O'Riley
    8. Black 16. Indifference

I was just reminiscing about the purchase of my first (Unofficial) Pearl Jam bootleg CD back in 1994. It was titled "Ultra Rare Trax" from a place called: Second Spin Records, near my house in South Jersey. My Dad bought it for me after a few childish minutes of begging like a typical brat. I think he recognized the Doors titles, and took pity on me and shelled out the $24 for me. It meant a lot, and so began my Pearl Jam Bootleg love affair! ... What's your title and story?

    PEARL JAM/ULTRA RARE TRAX:
    ...
    1 Footsteps
    2 Meaningless
    3 Hungerstrike
    4 My Generation
    5 Baba O'Riley
    6 Roadhouse Blues
    7 Break On Through
    8 Light My Fire
    9 I've Got A Feeling
    10 Untitled I
    11 Untitled II
    12 Untitled III
    13 Untitled IV
    14 Leash
    15 Dirty Frank
    16 Animal
    17 Breathe

That store was great! I wish it was still around. I picked up "No Fucking Messiah" there back in the day. It's gone but not forgotten. I still have a disc that contains one of the early Bridge School shows right around Vitalogy.

I bought this in 1994. It was one of my first bootlegs, but my first (not including recording 4/3/94 on the radio) was the "Five Against One" vs demos:

The 2 places near me in college had bootlegs for $30 a disc. Ugh. Lots of money spent.

...but then again I found a sealed copy of Hallucinogenic Recipe for $50 in one of the stores in the Summer of '95. Pretty much the steal of the century.

  • Actually went straight for Hallucinogenic Recipes.
    :D

When Vs. came out, I realized that the weird obsession I had with Ten was turning out to be something far more than just "a really good album". They were a phenomenal band. Vs. proved it.

    I bit the bullet.
    Bought the box.
    :D

    good shit too.
Hard to Imagine and the unreleased instrumental ('untitled' or "wreck") were worth the price alone.
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

No F'n Messiah! Crazy Mary with Victoria Williams and a cover of Dock of the Bay were worth $30 dollars. Also had a cassette copy of Vortical, which was several '94 shows pieced together - mostly Atlanta. Somehow Release was near the end of the track list of the cd, which I always thought was a great place for the song. Still looking for a copy of Vortical if anyone still has it.

My first bootlegs were purchased at a music shop called Soundchasers that was located in Hanover, MA. I had saved up and was able to purchase the three that I really wanted, they were:

    1. 5 Alive
    2. We're Gonna Hungry
    3. Small Club - Live in Holland 1992

All three had amazing sound and I played them all the time. I still have these three, along with about 60+ more, that I still listen to today!

I still miss those days of walking into the store and immediately going over to the front counter to see what new bootlegs they had and giving a listen to see how good/bad the bootleg sounded. I don't miss paying $30, $50 and $100+ for the bootlegs though!:lol:

***Sadly, with eBay and other low price music stores on the internet, my favorite music store closed around 10 years ago.***

    New Songs.

I bought it after Q101 started playing the new songs from the Atlanta easter broadcast. Most satisfying $30 I've ever spent on Pearl Jam to this day.

This was also the first bootleg I purchased.

I think it heavily contributed to me becoming a massive pearl jam obsessed fan. Such a good show.

    I think I was 12 when I got it.

Wasn't my first but was one of my favorites. My first were called All Night Thing and Small Club 1992. Got them both at the same time. Both were from Europe 92. Got them at the music swap in Elkin, nc.
