(oh wait...we can't)
The "no longer suffering" line, well...it is, as Who Princess said so well, a lopsided bargain.
One of the most difficult things I've ever experienced was losing my father. But he was in pain - both of body and mind - and his life was no longer his, what he wanted for himself. That thought, though perhaps selfishly, assauged my grief just a bit, that he was now free from that kind of hurting.0 -

Legends of the Fall? People mistake me for Tristin all the time, probably because I have had a few knife fights with bears. Well that and the flowing locks of blond hair...0 -

Or, because a predatory act on humans by any bear is extremely rare. More likely, the bear had something wrong with it. Not that I defend Treadwell. His heart may have been in the right place but his brain wasn't...
Except Polar Bears... I should add. Those suckers will track and eat you without hesitation.0 -

In the spirit of Neil Young's great (and one of his greatest) song, "My My, Hey Hey (Into the Black/Out of the Blue)" I do think it would be better to burn out than to fade away. But the misunderstanding of that concept (at least this is what I believe) is believing you have to die young to avoid fading away. Watch Neil in the film "Journeys". Sure, Neil has slowed down a bit but does this look like a man who had faded away? I don't think so. I say, keep going, push yourself- you'll not only live longer, you'll live better and you won't fade away.
Another take on this is this amazing poem (written in one of the most difficult forms, the villanelle) "Do not go gentle into that good night" by Dylan Thomas:
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -
I agree, I don't want to die doing what I love at all. Talk about ruining a good time. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

Going down in a plane is another shitty way to go IMO. I don't want to be panicking when I die! With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -
i've often thought about a massive heroin injection as a way of ending things herefor poetry through the ceiling. ISBN: 1 4241 8840 7

I am tired; my heart is
sick and sad. From where
the sun stands I will fight

Yeah, i'm with you on this. Like, if I was at a Justin Beiber concert, i would be all, 'Just kill me now... literally'.

Which is why I avoid Justin Beiber concerts.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!
