Ive got to agree for the most part. I liked it a few times as a kid, but its just too damned expensive. But last time I went I got hammered while I was there... Unsurprisingly, that made it bearable.

Ever smoke and J and check out Disney? It really is 'A Whole New World.'

Are they paying these disabled guides well? Are visitors who are legitimately disabled having their access to the park infringed upon? If the answer to the first is yes and the answer to the second question is no then I guess I don't have a problem with this.

I went there years back for one of those private night events - no lines, and we got stoned on many of the rides

I'm not sure if it's nostalgia speaking or times truly were different then, but the few occasions we went when I was a kid (early to mid-70s), it really was the magical kingdom! Nowhere near as expensive, either.

It is nostalgia. It is far more magical for todays youth. And it was damn expensive then too. But I find it to be worth it as they provide a family friendly, safe, wonderful vacation.

I wish they would go back to the ticket book thing. That way, you could go to the park and not feel you have to ride every ride in order to feel like you got your money's worth. They could still sell 'Magic Passes' that give you unlimited ride access for the same price you pay today.. but, you would have an option to just pay park admission and buy tickets for rides you want to ride.
The term, 'E-Ticket Ride' would have meaning again.

    truth, sir. you speak truths.

bearable when drugged up & loaded = even one's very own beheading ... or walt disney's magical strokers land.

i should move down there, get a wheel chair with the scooter america motor... you know, mobility commercials?

i already use a cane most of the time & i even have a walker from when i got out of the hospital this last time. i would fully charge wealthy fuckers to pretend they are my kin just to get in the front of the line from the special entrance way.

we all need paid. after 5 or 10 years i could retire nicely done

everyone should take full advantage of wealthy people willing to throw cash away

    on my repulsive employment comment....

it was directed towards the people who thought the disabled tour guides were wrong.

in my top post i mentioned disability unemployment and how bad it is.

if some think this act of what's going on at Disney is wrong, have they tried to open their bosses mind to hire a person with disability?

for the record, i think what's going on at Disney is wrong. even if they're being paid, it's exploiting the disability. (a lot of people with disabilities think this is ok because they're being paid)

but i still want to argue the fact, people are outraged about this but not about the disability unemployment rate or not outraged about the fact Disney isn't accessible to all?

the park should be accessible to all.

Disney is accessible to all, the disabled get preferental treatment, but if you are part of that group you get to go with that disabled person. My inlaws ride around in those scooters you can rent and go right to the front of the line, so it's nice for the wife and i to go to Disney with them and get right to the front of the line. And their not even disabled, there just old and fat.

theme parks are not accessible to all.
if they were i could get my power chair through the lines and they wouldn't let me go first.

btw, going first is a thing of the past.
now you visit each ride, get a time based on the wait time and come back.
which is completely POINTLESS because to others it STILL seems like you're going first.

POLL: who thinks being fat or pregnant is a disability?

POLL: who thinks being fat or pregnant is a disability?
I think either CAN be - at least temporarily - but not necessarily simply by virtue of either state (hope that makes sense).

As to the question in your other post about hiring...well, our company isn't :) But if we were, I can't see why we'd choose not to hire someone capable of the job and any activity it entails. Just as I believe no one qualified should be overlooked for a position by virtue of a disability, or race, or gender, etc...I also think no one should get preferential treatment simply BECAUSE of any those things.

    Interesting thread!

    which notion is more repulsive?

    this story about Disney?
    or
actually having to hire or work along side a person with a disability in your workplace?

well that's me then... I think hiring a disabled person solely to gain advantage at a theme park is despicable. though I have to wonder how id feel if the disabled people were the ones who approached the rich bitches? if it was the disabled who saw an opportunity and took it. and if its even my business. im assuming the disabled guides get to ride???

yup. you never know. the person with a disability coulda thought all this up. don't put it past them. ;)

i mean i think it wrong but i also know how awful discrimination in the workplace is too.

    gotta make a living, right?
it's better than do nothing and collecting ssi, right?

or is it like paying to see a freak at a circus freakshow? awful. :(

Yeah... I think everyone has a price. Like if I said I'd give you a thousand dollars for sitting on a bus stop bench for 12 hours... with nothing to do... nothing to read or watch... no books, or cell phones or anything to pass the time... just sit there... would you do it?

are they being bought off, or are they just trying to make a living after trying and trying to get a legit job?
