People who had GA for Springsteen at Wrigley were handed out sequentially numbered wristbands; a few hours later, a random number was drawn, and everyone with the next numbers after the random number were lined up. So it didn't matter if you were camped out for 3 days-if your wristband number was picked, you were first, etc. Don't know if this will happen for PJ though.
Please add me to the long list - looking for 2 - doesn't have to be GA, but that would sure be nice.
That's a fantastic idea IMO, and others will fucking riot if they try it.
it's called GA for a reason. :fp:
Yeah, because there are no assigned seats.
I just think it is a good idea as someone who would never wait long than maybe an hour in a GA lineup!

lotto's suck.
if you want up front, get in line early. if you don't care, get in line late.

OMG, now we have a lottery for the spot in GA?? :fp:
What's next, does everybody have to trade spots every few songs during the show so everybody in GA gets a chance to be on the rail? I'm fine with lottery for tickets, it's not perfect but it makes sense to me why it should be done. But if I was standing in the GA line all day long and right before the show they picked where the line will start I would be so pissed!

For a while now, I've been posting about this... why is the lottery good for tickets, yet bad for other things like venue entry and limited merchandise? (I personally think it's always bad.) Its just completely illogical to think that the lottery makes sense for tickets, but not for venue entry. You'd be pissed if you stood in line all night for venue entry and the handed out bracelets, but not if you stood outside for tickets all night and they handed out bracelets?
Once we lower our standards to accept a lottery for tickets, the bar will slowly be lowered until we accept lotteries for more and more things. Now it seems ridiculous to think that something like college admissions would be chosen by lottery instead of merit... but we used to feel the same way back in the day when you had to wait in line all night for the best concert tickets. We used to think that they guy who showed up in line first because he wanted the best tickets, deserved to have them.

The lottery is good for tickets because they are available to all fan club members across the world at one specific time. Due to time zones differences, work schedules, etc., it is literally impossible for everyone who wants to try for tickets to be at a computer for the 10-20 minutes before a show sells out. That is different than venue entry. Venue entry is limited to the people that have tickets and are 100% going to the building. You generally have months to plan your schedule before a show happens (versus only a couple days notice of tickets going on sale) so you can arrange to be there early if you want to get in line. Other people prefer hanging out at the bar before a show and going in right when it starts. Long story short, its much more even of a playing field for things like venue entry and merchandise because you will all be in the same area at the same time.

I have no problem with the first come first served system for concert tickets for public sales via Ticketmaster, etc. But I see how the lottery for 10club tickets is reasonable because we are all paying a membership for a chance to get tickets to shows and with the lottery everybody gets the same chance. That's where I see the difference.

not everyone can be online for white back spacer and orange RNDM. Cleary the lotto is needed for anything that may sell out in less than 24 hours.

Work schedules can interfere with venue entry too if you are local. You can arrange to be at your computer for the ticket on sale date just as easy as you can arrange to get to the venue early. You can do it from the comfort of your own home, sure you have less time to prepare, but it's not that tough of a thing to arrange. People who spend their entire lives on the forum have an advantage on limited merchandise over those how only stop in occasionally. Certain time zones have an advantage.

How did everyone not have the same chance in the old system? In fact their chances were better... as the ease of entry of the lottery makes everyone's odds worse. Everyone had the same chance to hone their F5 skills and use them for as long as it took on sale day. Some didn't want tickets bad enough to bother.
This is strange logic to me. Why must it be all or nothing in your mind? There is no reason for that.
There is plenty of reason for it. Unlike most people, I don't want just what's best for me. I consistently want the people who want tickets, or venue entry, or limited merchandise the most to get it. Thus I always think an F5, effort, merit based, first come first serve, or whatever you want to call it system is best. Some advocate a lottery sometimes when it's good for them, and not other times, when it's not good for them. Well if a lottery is "so great, and so fair" for tickets, why isn't everyone calling for wider application of the lottery to cover more things like venue entry?
I am on the list already, but I wanted to stress the fact that I am from Buenos Aires, and we rock out at shows.

That show last night was impeccable! What a set list!
I see that there is now a GA ticket being offered in another post. Lets hope its the first of at least a few that start freeing up in the weeks before the concert....
Please add me to the list! I need to be in the pit too! I have my plane ticket, hotel room and ticket to the bbq. All I need is a ticket to the show and I'd love it to be a GA ticket! Message me!
I have 2 section 140 tix ( i actually have the tix in hand bc I did not win them in drawing- but i did get past the waiting room.) if anyone wants to trade for GA- like maybe you would like a seat instead of a pit.
