i didn't hit that tour nearly has hard as i hit subsequent tours, but i did see my first three on it.
but the bootlegs are amazing....pearl jam 2.0 really hit their stride as an epic live band on that tour.
riot act tour was monstrous as well.
in my opinion the best live pj years are
1a and 1b- 92 and 2000
2-2003i have a paper here that entitles me to fast track status0 -
my first AND second show were from that tour...The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

In my opinion, this was the band's peak. They have been on a decline since then. They are still great, but not nearly as good as they were on that tour.0

I'm one who always sticks up for "PJ setlists and performances today" but if we're talking pure quality of the average song performance, Binaural tour is the peak.2006: Hartford
2008: MSG 1, Hartford, Mansfield 2, Ed Solo NYC 1
2009: London (O2), Philly 1, 2, 3, & 4
2010: Hartford, Boston, MSG 1 & 2
2011: Ed Solo Hartford
2012: Philly (MIA Fest)
2013: Worcester 2, Brooklyn 1 & 2, Hartford0 -
will be doing a Faithfull Forum call in show next month in celebration of this great album, tour and dvd. If you fuckers don't call in for that one, there will be hell to pay

I don't get the love for the 2003 Tour. I think the New York, Boston and Mexico shows at the tail end
of the tour kind of masked what was a dip for Peal Jam.
Riot Act wasn't selling well, and they were playing to half full arenas in The Southern states. The fans turned on them while playing Bu$hleaguer! Ok that last point may be kind of cool now, but at the time the band were pretty shaken up about it.
However my main issue for the 2003 tour is the band are really sloppy. Right through the tour. The first shows in Australia were very short, and pretty uninspired - That fire seen throughout the 2000 tour seemed to have gone somewhere. The Japan shows are unique sounding, but error ridden. Then the full US Tour, where we got massive political speeches from Vedder, Sleater Kinney duets, and bad haircuts (check the MSG 2003 DVD)...
Thankfully in 2006 they got their mojo back!! 2003 was a bad one for me though.0 -
Yeah I agree about the riot act tour. Other than maybe 6-8 shows, band seemed off a little bit. Eddie didn't seem as into the music as he did in 2005 and 2006.0

I was at the Pittsburgh show where Ed played a solo set because of 'The Tragedy' as he put it regarding Sonic Youth. Then half the band came out and did a short set. Does anyone know what tragedy he was talking about? I've checked before and the only thing I can find is that SY had a bunch of cherished guitars stolen on that tour at one point but that doesn't seem like a tragedy to me.0

Yeah I was there too and had no idea what he was talking about?0

It's weird...I had a dream last night that I was looking through some vinyls at a record store and found a whole bunch of Binaural Tour Bootlegs on vinyl.... :think:Tres Mts- 3/16/2011
Eddie Vedder- 7/16/11
Brad- 4/21/12 (RSD Performance), 4/27/12, 8/10/12
Flight To Mars- 5/23/12
RNDM- 11/27/12
PEARL JAM- 12/6/13 I have finally seen Pearl Jam live!0 -
The Yield tour was the first time I did multiple shows (3), but I hit up 6 Binaural tour shows and thus I will always look back on that tour with a lot of fondness.Bright eyed kid: "Wow Typo Man, you're the best!"
Typo Man: "Thanks kidz, but remembir, stay in skool!"0 -

Great tour... finishing up my senior year at Mizzou, had just returned from living/studying in Australia. Voice and image etched in history on the STL bootleg and TB2000 DVD. Ahhhh......www.cluthelee.com0

Amazing tour...Started my PJ obsession.. Smack dab in the middle of their live peak.
For those dismissing the 03 tour...Sloppy? If you think 03 is sloppy you must be appalled by everything since 08. Great setlists, amazing energy from the band, and Ed taking really pushing his voice when he actually could push his voice.0 -
I so wish I knew who PJ was at 8 years old. So badly. Band was on fire, would have been amazing to catch a 2000 show."Sometimes you find yourself having to put all your faith in no faith."

I totally agree with you...especially the u.s. legs. it seemed like after denmark they were really flat.I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0 -
I quite liked the Binaural tour. I got to see 5 shows:
Vancouver
Portland
Boise
Seattle I & II.
That's by far the most PJ shows I've seen on a tour. They played really well and really tight. In fact my 2nd favorite show I've ever seen was the Boise show, but the atmosphere after the Roskilde tragedy was a bit sombre. It was a bit of a shadow on the whole North American tour.
My favorite is still the Yield tour. I think that's when the band really got their footing live. They did their first full tour since Vs? (I think the Vitalogy Tour fell apart, and the No Code Tour was pretty small). The North American legs of the tour were in the summer. It gave the whole tour this very optimistic and high energy vibe. I caught three shows: Missoula, Vancouver, and Seattle II. Those were my first standalone PJ shows. They were all damn fine
edit: I should note that my 2nd favorite was the 2005 tour. It was short and sweet but packed with a punch. the Gorge/Vancouver shows on that tour were both fantastic. It's too bad that tour was so short.0 -
Absolutely fantastic tour and documented perfectly with the introduction of the bootleg series and a great DVD. Loved the Euro shows most of all and I don't think the Roskilde tragedy ruined the mood of the US shows that much, obviously it had an impact but there were some very good fun shows and good humour at times. 2003 was good too but I think 2000 was their peak as someone else already said.Like a book among the many on a shelf...
