So it finally hit over 60* for the first time since October last year...and the ice cream truck is making it's rounds right now.

Did you have one drive around when you were a kid?

Mine was like this one:

but it was a 70s DJ,it said 'Joe's' on the side in orange, and it blared 'The Entertainer'. Always got either the red/white/blue popsicle or a fudgesicle. What did you get? (I want to run after the ice cream truck right now).

We had one, not a jeep like that, more like this...

He didn't come by regularly though. Seems like 1-2 times a summer we'd see him. I guess we weren't one of his usual stops or something, and he'd just cruise by if he was looking for customers. No skin off our ass though, we had several stores within a stones throw that had ice cream.

they used to have to pedal all that ice cream around...

and St. John's was not a flat place.... I lived at the top of a massive hill... always used to feel so bad for the guy.... we worked his damn ass off to sell those $2 ice creams...

what I wouldn't kill for a phantom right now though...

Did it come replete with the guy up there?

(he looks like Daniel Negreanu, for anyone who follows poker)

I just remember the heat as a kid - LA style - and hearing that singsongsound of the truck and reacting like one of Pavlov's fucking dogs.

(I totally wanted to be an ice cream truck driver...just so I could stop and when the kids got close drive away and watch them run after me... )

There is one guy in town here who bought one of these bikes last summer for his 15 yr old kid to start selling ice cream.....I would have bought one off him, but never saw the kid

...Keep your kids away from them!!!...Not since most of the dudes look creepy and could show up on a local list of perps under an alias...There is too much red die 5 and high fructose corn syrup in ice cream these days!!..

I love ice cream trucks! On my street in the summer, I get a truck about once a day and several guys with the little carts come by.

    Gonna miss those chimes. :(
