So what exactly is the problem with background checks?
Answer: Nothing
Background checks will ensure proper gun sales happen everywhere. Because it was blocked, criminals won't have to illegally get a gun. They can just walk into a gun show and buy one, rarely no questions asked and rarely an ID is checked. Gun shows are pretty good at checking IDs to check age, but that is it. I know people who go to some. It's ridiculous.~Carter~

doesn't change the fact that people want and need guns to protect
themselves against criminals who will always have guns. That is reality ,
more of a reality for some than others because of the criminal activity around them.
And wanting to own a gun will remain a right in the USA, it is what the majority of people want
whether they ever choose to own a gun or not.
Now lets get down to real business that will stop the violence.
That is not the weapon of choice but the people who thrive on hurting other people
and why they choose or feel they are forced to do it.
Once again people continue to miss the point. Nobody, is talking about taking guns away in this bill. This is about stopping people that shouldn't own guns from buying them legally. Felons, people with mental disorders and the such, which answers your second paragraph.
This is what always happens when these debates come up. The NRA rhetoric comes out and people start screaming They're gonna take our guns!! We cant even get common sense laws on background checks to pass Congress. Do you honestly think they will pass laws that remove guns from you home... honestly??Forced to endure, what I cannot forgive.0 -

Sadly, the fear has been drummed up so much and so often, that there are plenty of morons who actually do think that.
I love the conflicting talking points like on one hand the right says how incompetent Obama is, and how there are no government programs that work well at all, but then on the other hand somehow envision an organized door to door gun search, or some elaborate conspiracies that our government is pulling off.My whole life

Exactly. Like with the Newton conspiracy and other conspiracy theorists. How in the hell could this completely dysfunctional unorganized government coordinate so many domestic attacks and keep it all a secret. NOTHING stays a secret today. EVERYTHING leaks. Especially with the number of people that would have to be involved. Its a joke and an insult to the victims and their families. Christ even Newt Gingrich things its ridiculous.
It was nice to see some Republicans vote for this bill though, including John McCain.Forced to endure, what I cannot forgive.0 -

Today I heard people calling the Texas Fertilizer Plant Explosion a gov't conspiracy. It's ridiculous.
And I am also happy some Republicans voted for the bill. John McCain seems to be a great bipartisan Senator. I'm glad he didn't win Presidency, because this way he can try and get his party to work cooperatively when it needs it. But sadly it didn't help this time.~Carter~

if it can found that a weapon was purchased at a gunshow that was then used in a multiple death event or even a single killing , then all who voted against these checks should be charged as complicit in murder._____________________________________SIGNATURE________________________________________________

Yes I do believe in a state of emergency under marshall law guns will be removed from civilians,
I'm sure most here would agree.0 -

I do not. In what scenario would the government go house to house removing peoples guns?Forced to endure, what I cannot forgive.0 -

what does this have to do with anything other than your own paranoia.
maybe we should start calling America the Home of the scared.
Lol. Obama the idiot, the man who can do no right. The man who was a US Senator for what a year? Somehow he has organized the United States government into a Nazi like organization that has not only planned but pulled off several domestic attacks with deep coverups and misinformation. All the while nobody says a word. All in an attempt to disarm Americans and do... something, All this in the 8 years as president. I guess if Obama didnt get relected then Newtown would never have happened right?
Its all so ridiculous. What I want is a good reason why the US government would want to disarm its citizens. To take over, right? And then what? We become slaves or forced into the military for global domination? Seriously, what is the end game here?Forced to endure, what I cannot forgive.0 -

insulting as well, why
I think many would agree that guns would be removed from civilians at this time,
common sense right?
But now that you mention fear, honestly for me, those who choose not to own a gun
seem afraid to me.Those that must rely on others for protection.
Some people have realized not to fear guns.
There is nothing to fear once you know how to handle one.
To be self reliant in moments of danger, to be prepared for whatever the future brings.
Good common sense for today and well into the future.
You carry insurance right? It's the exact same thing.
But some people really need certain kinds of insurance more than others.
Same with owning a gun.
If you need one good thing you got one. If you don't that is your choice.0 -

Dont agree with this either. The right clearly are the fear mongers. Its one of the reasons I stopped voting Republican. The gun lobbies breed the fear. Of course people that dont own a gun fear someone breaking into their home with a gun but the political fear is on the right for sure and you are right that is their choice.
Again though, this bill isnt about taking guns away. Nobody is trying to take your guns away. I dont think I have ever met one person who told me they think nobody should be able to own guns. Its not even possible in this country to get rid of them all. Its such a fallacy.Forced to endure, what I cannot forgive.0 -

Your opinion, but it is completely ignorant.
I don't have a gun. Why? Because I spend money on more important necessities (bills, food, school, etc.)
I am not afraid. I would love to own a gun. Is it at the top of my priority list? Hell no. Our founding fathers and ancestors fought for us to be free; to live in a country where we shouldn't have to arm ourselves if we choose not to. We have the right to own a gun if we choose to.
There are cops and other means to protect our families (watch dogs, strong door locks, security system, etc). Guns are just another option. Would it be great to have a gun? Sure. Is it necessary? Nope.
Don't get the impression I hate guns. I plan to buy one sometime soon. But it shouldn't be forced upon people, nor should it define people.~Carter~

some people despise guns, fear them, will not hold one or ever except their existence
into their lives or anyone else's.
be honest now... you don't own a gun because you don't need one.
We shouldn't have to arm ourselves :? that would be nice.
If the need was their to protect yourself and family it would be the highest priority on the list.
It is for some. I hope this never happens to you.
In my area the threat is real enough to own a gun. It is a matter of self reliance,
taking care of oneself. When you see neighbors who weren't able to protect themselves
suffer, you decide I better be prepared. Good luck relying on your police who arrive after the fact.
I have a dog in fact I got twoand security system ...so did my neighbor,
it was the gun that saved his family.
Nothing is being forced on anyone... it is all about choice.0
