    Awesome news from MOV

Mother Love Bone (also known as Stardog Champion) is a compilation album by the American rock band Mother Love Bone. The album contains material from the EP Shine (1989) and the album Apple (1990). It was released by Polygram subsidiary Stardog/Mercury Records after the band dissolved due to the death of vocalist Andrew Wood.

Before Pearl Jam, there was Mother Love Bone. Future Pearl Jam members Stone Gossard (guitar) and Jeff Ament (bass) were founders of this Seattle-based glam/punk outfit, which was fronted by flamboyant singer Andrew Wood. But despite countless accolades from the press and their peers, the group's career was cut short before it could truly blossom due to tragedy.

Both Gossard and Ament had previously been members of Seattle garage rockers Green River (a group that also included future Mudhoney members Mark Arm and Steve Turner), and upon the group's breakup in 1988, the guitarist and bassist stuck together, looking to form a group more a kin to the arena rockers of their youth (Kiss, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Queen, etc.). Joining Gossard and Ament was drummer Greg Gilmore, second guitarist Bruce Fairweather, and the aforementioned Wood on vocals. Wood (who was previously known as Landrew the Love Child as a member of another Seattle outfit, Malfunkshun) was the complete opposite of the prototypical Seattle frontman as he patterned his look and vocal style after such renowned frontmen as Freddie Mercury, Paul Stanley, and Marc Bolan. But although the group had a few similarities to the then-flourishing glam metal scene, the group's sound was tougher and more rooted in classic rock than their soon-to-be disposable glam contemporaries.

    Track Listing:
    LP1
    1. This Is Shangri-La
    2. Stardog Champion
    3. Holy Roller
    4. Bone China
    5. Come Bite The Apple

    7. Heartshine
    8. Captain Hi-Top
    9. Man of Golden Words
    10. Capricorn Sister

    LP2
    1. Gentle Groove
    2. Mr. Danny Boy
    3. Crown of Thorns
    4. Thru Fade Away
    5. Mindshaker Meltdown
    6. Half Ass Monkey Boy
    7. Chloe Dancer / Crown of Thorns
    8. Capricorn Sister (Shine Version)
    9. Lady Godiva Blues

Ha! I see I was posting a thread at the same time as this.

As for this being a bootleg, MOV is a legit label and their releases are legit. They reissue a lot of great stuff in high-quality vinyl.

I checked MOV also, no mention of MLB reissue.
I sent an email to them inquiring about the legitimacy of this...
If I hear back, I'll post.

Is it possible its a premature posting? Sort of like how MOV was going to release singles and mad season on vinyl but never came out (although I suppose Mad Season is coming out so that's different).

I'd be interested in buying it but it does seem a tad bit steep. It doesn't say the 1500 purple ones are limited to Soundstage? Maybe they'll make their rounds?

You are right, it doesn't say the 1500 purple ones are limited to SSD, but since they are the ones who are taking preorders at the moment, at 39 first, now at 36, one can assume that the purple vinyls have been allocated to the SSD site... but that's how I think, I might be worng... on the other hand, we all should remember what happened to many of those who preordered PJ20 vinyl during October and November, 2011... just sayin'...

Well. I ordered it. I've always had a good experience with Sound Stage Direct and from past releases by MOV they've sold, they're the cheapest.

What what? Is this an official release from Music On Vinyl or a bootleg?

Yeah I almost jumped at this but sometimes I wonder about the stuff this site sells. I don't think this is an official release by the band. More of a bootleg copy that they're calling limited edition.
    Tread Lightly.

In my experience w/ SoundStageDirect, they sell legit stuff. And I have picked up a few MOV titles from them.
