Anyone who is stealing and leaking stuff against the will of the band is a piece of shit. This is not wikileaks whistleblowing against shitty government actions - it is revealing an artist's work before the creative process is complete.
If this is genuine, and I believe it is, I'm sure the band (or their management) know about it and either don't care or have arranged this themselves to build some excitement for the new material.
If this material was stolen or otherwise unauthorised by the band, you can bet this thread would've disappeared immediately.
You are right, 'stolen tapes', leaks and all sort of hi-jinx have been used by bands to build up publicity prior to albums being released.
Remember, it is good Friday, people are out of the office - plenty of things have lasted longer than this during normal office hours.
It's only idiots like me who work IT from home who manage their clients websites 24/7/365. :fp:

I agree. It's either complete BS or the band was in on it. Back before BS was released someone got a recording of a couple of songs from a live rehearsal and posted it on the web. Some of the micro blogs picked it up. Within a few days EVERYTHING was gone, like it didn't exist as the band management/reps swung in to action. As we are not seeing that in this case one can only assume either complicity by them or utter BS.

These arent recordings. They are worded descriptions of songs....big difference.
And so you see, I have come to doubt All that I once held as true I stand alone without beliefs The only truth I know is you.

Don't get me wrong, I am actually leaning towards it being legit, but I just think the band is well aware of it because it just seems anyone close enough to them to get these demos ("a friend") would never violate their trust like this. That said, the person on TSIS did get to listen to demos.
Has there been a PJ album that hasn't been leaked?
And why do people get so hostile. I don't really feel like listen to leaked songs but I think it cool that people descibe these songs - true or not. It doesn't destroy my experience of the album and it's nice to get something.
It's Pearl Jams responsible to not have things leak. It's not the ones listening to the leaked stuff.
"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"
Has there been a PJ album that hasn't been leaked?
I can't remember the last album from any band that didn't leak at least a few days early. So much so, that if an album can make it to an NPR first listen type thing or physical products reaching the store I don't even view as a leak.
I couldn't believe in a million years that PJ leaked music intentionally, be it demos or finished product.
Probably true. I do believe it is even less likely that TSIS and this thread would be left alone if the demos are real **AND** it wasn't intentional which means this thought process leads back to the whole thing being bullshit. That would be a really really lame joke by TSIS.
as much as I'd love to believe the tsis they've been known to pull these stupid april fools jokes in the past. I'll take it with a grain of salt.
Call me old school but don't April fools jokes have to take place on April 1st!!! Otherwise its just a lie.
My guess is that this is all a set up for Monday. They'll be a post with links to songs that are either jokes or fake demos made up by these guys claiming they are PJ.
I believe they did something similar in 2006 and had a "recording" of World Wide Suicide that was an actual song based on the title made up by these guys.
Well, I would love to see some of our friends in the upcoming Latin America shows holding plate requests with Alford Pleas
I also bet that Mercury,Transience, Jumbled are Stone's demos
Yes, I for one doesn't believe it to be true. Like people have said tsis has done this before. And the way they decribed the songs were awfully wordy without making much sense to me. Could any of you 'picture" what the songs sound like from how they desrcibed it? Basically they compared them to other random PJ songs and tried to ramble a bit to make it seem specific but without being specific, if that makes sense.
Remember this with U2 "Salomé - The Achtung Baby Sessions: Remastered"
One set of DAT working tapes was stolen and widely bootlegged around April 1991 as the three-disc Salomé The [Axtung Beibi] Outtakes (Jewels).
“This might be the most underrated U2 boot ever: a three-disc collection of studio sessions of a band searching for a new sound. Well, obviously they hadn’t quite found it in 1990. This is halfway between Rattle and Hum, and Achtung Baby, literally."
I would not be surprised at all if this is a double album or one kind of project that great bands over the years have done.20 + songs.Take some time & think about it. they have not released anything in a long time, giving all this time to write a bunch of new song of many different styles of music.A lot more experimental with more guest appearances, different styles, & sounds than before. Anything is possible & they know that & tha'ts what were are going to get. It's their show now.
they have paved the road for them self's & done a damn fine job of it. Do i like every song off every album? no but there is not 1 band in the history of music that every record & song was loved by everybody. but there are some bands that have run the course & then released a masterpiece that just blew everybody away. And that's what I'm waiting for. So sit back & give greatness the time they need for it to happen again.
They know what they are doing, they have been doing this for over 20 years now so this could totally be their time & place in their lives to just put something out that no one ever saw it coming.
Just remember they are only doing this for them. of course the fans also, but they are free to do anything they want & when they are ready & it's time I think we will have something that will put their mark on rock-n-roll not that they haven't done that already but i truly feel that it's come time for the biggest release that Pearl Jam has ever done & never will be topped(at least i hope I'm right)

True but it seems most of that time was spent writing for their side or solo projects. I hope youre right, I just dont see it.
side projects are a good thing. the band needs branch out do there own thing.I mean after 20+ years with only playing with the same guys.come on of course branch out with others, then all they have do is show up to practice because they have been doing it for 20 years. that never goes away when you have built it the way they have built lt it perfectly.. think of what its like showing up at your jam room & sharing all the stories of everybody's experiences . The start playing as Pearl jam will do for the rest of all lives.their music will never go away
No shock here. It's right up there alley. It's really kind of dumb, I'm all for joking around but they've done this too much so it loses it's effectiveness in my opinion.
