TSIS Reviews the 7 Leaked Songs

Okay here we go.
3,2,1
Not the kind of song I have come to associate with Jeff. This is a fast, heavy number, but it is dirty, rather than glossy. Think Comatose or Habit (which, other than the outro, was what I was reminded of a bit more), not Supersonic. Very loud, very aggressive. Overall the sound is really pretty cool. The guitar equivalent of tires tearing up a muddy field is what I pictured (actually, imagine if You Are was sped up quite a bit). The chorus is a bit slower, and really churns in place---slow, but like it is revving up to take off again. There is a cool baseline driving the whole thing, thick and dirty. No bridge to speak of (or at least it is not so differentiated from the rest of the song that I was aware it was a bridge), but a longish outro with a pretty blistering mike solo. Fast playing, no outro jam like Habit (reminded me of an extended Comatose solo). Jeff isn’t actually singing on the verses (no one is) but he does on the chorus, which does have the lyric cold concession repeated each chorus, alongside a few other ‘adjective/noun couplets’. ‘ It’s a cold concession, it’s a bitter pill... (there were 4 or 5 phrases and then a countdown 5,4,3,2,1’ before exploding back into the verses. Not sure if this will be political or not--the chorus seemed ambiguous enough that it could go either way. I guess we’ll see how the verses are written. I’m really excited for this one. Quite possibly the thing I enjoyed the most. Granted some people don’t love how eddie sings the aggressive songs these days, but I think this is where he may be at his best right now, and with a good performance I picture this being great.
This was about three and a half minutes long.

And so you see, I have come to doubt

Agreed about the April 1st thing completely. The author went out of their way to bring up April Fool's, so if it's still a hoax, then what a lame-o.
I honestly hope these all make the album based on what I just read! RELEASE THIS BITCH SOON!!
2008: MSG 1, Hartford, Mansfield 2, Ed Solo NYC 1
2009: London (O2), Philly 1, 2, 3, & 4
2010: Hartford, Boston, MSG 1 & 2
2011: Ed Solo Hartford
2012: Philly (MIA Fest)
2013: Worcester 2, Brooklyn 1 & 2, Hartford
But this has me looking ahead now.

Out of ideas? I don't think so. There is nothing wrong with rehashing an old demo. Sometimes songs take years to develop. Might just be the same lyric from the previous as well.
Either way the reviews sound good. I don't want to get too excited though. Over-anticipation often leads to disappointment no matter how good the final product is.
By way of background, someone who got a hold of these (a friend of the band, I assume) had contacted B a few weeks ago. B had been attempting to get them to share the material but they were unwilling to do so. The best B could do was some descriptions they passed along. He had been trying to persuade that person to make it available to us for review ever since, and that person agreed.
First of all, let me just say thank you to the person who made these available. I do NOT know who this person is. I also do not have copies of these songs. They made them available briefly this morning, streaming on a website, and B had to promise on my behalf that we would not try to rip them or share it. Since we don’t want to disqualify ourselves from leaks like this in the future we obliged. Plus being able to post a first review of new Pearl Jam material is kind of a dream come true, so I’m just gonna do what I am told. Long story short, I cannot make any of this available. I don’t have it. Neither does B.
I call BS. So someone close to the band has a copy of some new demos and they were unwilling to share them. But they suddenly change their mind and decided to share them and the method they chose was to post them on the internet????? I find it hard to believe that someone close to the band chose posting them on the internet as their method of "sharing" the demos.
I guess it could be true, but posting them on the internet , even briefly, seems really foolish and hard to believe.
I need more.
Nothing seems to satisfy.
I said, I dont want it.
I just need it.
To breathe, to feel, to know Im alive.
I have no doubt that this is legit. Will any of these songs actually make the album is another question.

They have no intention of using most of these demos.
OR
They are planning to release a double album and these demos make up no more than a third of the material. Now that you all have stopped laughing, let me explain. The one point to hang our hats on is that a large chunk of their classic rock influences.... Beatles, Who, Zep, Springsteen, Stones .... all had one or more "epic" style albums that reached high in to the teens and beyond in terms of song quantity. Now I am not saying they should cobble together 20+ songs, quality be damned. Rather, just trying to rationalize how this "leak" could be real. The way I see it, if they had a 20+ song bomb in the hopper, they might be willing to release some demos to get folks excited, particularly ahead of some lives shows.
Who knows.
You might be right. Just smells fishy to me.
Makes me wonder if the guy making up these titles ran out of ideas and used the name of an old demo to add some credibility to the hoax.
OR
They are doing it to build hype and talk about the new album. Free advertisement. If they dont use them, then there will be talk about the unused songs. I think the idea of a double album is a reach. Getting them to record 12 songs has taken how long?
Unfortunately I agree with you more than I agree with me

Thanks to the masked leaker-hero!!!! Can I return the favor of your having shared that unferifiable subjective drivel by describing to you what my dinner tastes like? Or perhaps how I put my pants on in the morning? Hint: both involve skidmarks :P
Agree 100% Let the band release the album and songs they want and listen to that.
Anyone who is stealing and leaking stuff against the will of the band is a piece of shit. This is not wikileaks whistleblowing against shitty government actions - it is revealing an artist's work before the creative process is complete.
Good on TSIS for reviewing and getting the conversation going - as a 'media' organisation - this is their role and their right and I understand people wanting to get a taste, especially since the last album was almost four years ago, but as I see it, I spoilt a lot of Xmas mornings by sneaking though my parent's cupboards to see what they were getting for me. I'm not about to spoil the upcoming album by listening to demos, leaks and maybe hoaxes.
now, what really matters,is to let God,destroy our minds with his divine guitar playing..
come on..the guy is unreal...

If this material was stolen or otherwise unauthorised by the band, you can bet this thread would've disappeared immediately.
