***EDIT*** I now have created a 64 song bracket. I would still love your feedback on adding or removing songs. And we can put them up for vote. Here is the new bracket. Please note, It is not finished. I still need to seed it. I added songs in no particular order.

Last night I started working on a 32 song bracket to determine the best PJ song ever. Im almost done with preliminary votes which i'm calling the play-in matchups for songs on the bubble. Then I need to seed the bracket. I'll post the bracket soon. I'm sure I'll get razzed about the songs that didnt make it. Here are some of the play-in matchups I have created. You can vote on these. The winners of these play-ins will make the final 32 song field.

OK, now the PJ Best Song Of All Time Bracket of 64 songs is ready to start. Please vote for each matchup if you want. I will leave the polls open for a few days. At which time I will post the results and a new bracket with corresponding results to refect and show the songs that moved on and what the new matchups will be for round 2. Here is the link for the 64 song bracket and the 1st round matchups. Keep in mind that I did not choose the seeding based on my opinions. I used the number of times each song has been played live to determine this. I had to move 2 or 3 songs, that's it.

    This is a great idea and I'm really looking forward to seeing the final product. As much as I would love to spend a few hours helping to seed today, I've got kids to attend to.

    Anyway, a TOOL fan site did something similar a few years ago and the way they seeded the brackets was by the amount of plays listed on last.fm. The only reason I know this is b/c there's been a TOOL topic on the board over the past few days and that's all I've been listening to. I forget how good that band is, but you have to be in the right state of mind to enjoy their music.

    That might be a good idea and it will take my subjectivity out of play. Which is what i'm trying my hardest to do. I dont want this to be the results of just what I think. But of a collective group of true fans so we can get a true idea of what people think the best song is. The seeding part is definitely the hardest part. Thanks for the ideas.

    Here is the final seeded bracket based on the number of times each song has been played. I had to figure out an objective way to seed it and take my subjectivity out of this. So I thought Hail_Hail PJ's suggestion was a good way to do it. It also saved me a bunch of time trying to figure the seeding out.

    Now after I created this thing, i realized that not any person can just open the bracket link up and vote on each matchup. I wish it were that easy. So I have to create an individual poll for each matchup. This works fine and the poll only allows each person to vote once and you can also view the the results. I think the way I'll do it is once I post this, I'll leave the 1st round polls open until the first NCAA game on Thursday. Then I'll leave round 2 open for a few days so on and so forth. I'll post the first matchup now while I finish the rest.

    Thanks! I never even had any intention on posting here at first. But all my friends and some people on my Facebook Pearl Jam bootleg page thought it was awesome. So I posted it here.Why not? In the spirit of the NCAA March Madness going on every year at this time, it makes sense to do something like this. I think its fun.
