I don't mind a shorter show if it is a great show, which I am sure this one was. And shorter is sometimes better when i am at a show because i always refuse to go piss because i am afraid i will miss "No Way" or somethng"All I Ever Knew" available now in print and digital formats at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iBooks.0

lovebuzz wrote:I think its great the St John's people got their shows, regardless of how long they were, whether the band got booted early or not, whether the show was "as advertised" or not, or whether or not people who travelled quite a way to see the shows were satisfied or not. Take it this way: The band, almost immediately, decided to go with not one but two shows on the edge of North America, because you Newfies blew them away with your demand (and rightfully so... sounds like it's been a long time since you've seen a show of this magnitude). Shouldn't we as a whole commend rather than condemn the band for heading out there and playing a grand total of around 5 hrs of excellent music for what sounds like an overall enthusiastic crowd? Maybe people weren't as "in" to it the second night, maybe management (on either side) pushed the band out earlier than they wanted, maybe some other shit went down that the rest of us don't know about... the fact of the matter is Pearl Jam went literally coast to coast in Canada, something that rarely happens by any multi-national band as it is, and all the Newfoundlers (sp?) I've seen post have been nothing but extremely excited that their favorite band made it a point to visit their home town. Why can't everyone else be content with the fact that the band played as best as they could for as long as they could in a place where very few others even dare to venture?
I for one stand behind the St John's folks who have expressed gratitude to their favorite band for heading off to their little corner of the planet to play a show, regardless of the length. I'm glad you were all able to get the visit you all had looked forward to with such passion.
*clap clap clap*Thanks so much!! You summed up absolutely everything I felt about it! PJ came to the edge of canada and within ONE day of tickets going on public sale, they added a second show!! Stop trying to bring us all down, and take it for what it was... an absolutely amazing band coming to an absolutely amazing place to play some awesome fuckin music!! Kudos to you my friend

yeah, seems like the only reason there's no rapes or killings in St Johns is cause the women are so ugly-who'd wanna rape em- and your town is so broke from selling wooden "puffins" and hand crafts( that no one needs cause you're all selling them) that there's no money to kill for.
Not allowing water on the floor is a pretty stupid decision your government came up with causing people dehydration down on the floor up close...causing low energy-

Were you hoping to get raped or murdered here? You're pretty cocky and arrogant, especially coming from a place like New York - maybe you're upset because you couldn't get anyone to sleep with you...maybe you couldn't get anyone to sleep with you here because YOU'RE too ugly...no wait, that's not it, we don't sleep with someone from another country after knowing them for less than a day, my bad. Come to think of it, maybe the only reason why you New Yorkers have to rape and murder is because you're too ugly for any of the women down there to want to sleep with you...no, that's probably not it either, again, my bad, it's probably that your women are actually intellengent human beings and you're just an asshole...no place or person is perfect to everyone, try having some respect, loser.walk the bridges before you burn them down...0 -

And I really hope the rest of what you said in this thread was just said to get a rise from people. St John's is beautiful, there's no denying it. The shows were fantastic, there's no denying it. End of story.0 -

Speaking as someone who moved here from the west coast, newfoundland has an unusually high amount of hot girls.0

no one sells penguins in st. john's, they're called puffins and they fly and look nothing alike. If you had bothered to look outside of the most touristy spots you may have seen other things more worthy of your greatness.
It's nice to know that we can come close to approaching the mediocrity of NYC, thanks for the compliment...
The only people that say "aye" anywhere in Canada I would suspect are either wannabe pirates, Irish ex-pats or working on a ship. Lots of people in the rest of Canada say 'eh' but not many do here.
Your condescending, full of worldly knowledge, attitude is refreshing and such a nice change from the general tone of these boards which tends to be conciliatory, friendly and open. Any time you feel like gracing us with your presence please come again, i'm sure we could all learn a lesson or two from your street wise, cosmopolitan attitudes...

i met this jeff dude before the show from alberta he got a shirt signed by a few band members and is goin to auction it off as a fundraiser, actually while we were speakin w/ him jeff walked by us in motel lobby!! and signed it, i was a lot more calm seeing him that day, i was the last of my friends to head to the show, there was some sort of fashion show in the motel lotsa weird ass lookin ppl, but while smokin one last cigarette outside near entrance, STONE walked out!! just told him to have a good show
i got to the venue just in time, i went to check see for a different poster, saw that it was the same as nite 1 (and still not sold out??!) picked one up after show, but as im lookin for a gate i hear eddie start hide your love away! sweet, my seats were in row U tonite stones side, wintersleep (great band name btw) played same set i believe, even better second time around
highlights for me : hail hail, insignificance, I GOT SHIT, half full (when eddie kept the light on that flag that said thanks!) BEE GIRL! man of the hour & light years
dont know what to believe about the show being cut short, regardless sucks that there were some song cut out, all in all great times, we hung out at a bar until 4am before leaving for the airport, met some of the crew there & basecamp guys, i got home exhausted this morning and went to sleep for 11 hours
the people in newfoundland were amazing, so friendly, i'd go back in a heartbeat"ah fuck it get in trouble"

Thank you for coming to Canada PJ. Thank you 10c for squeaking me in this summer just in the nick of time. Two amazing shows for me Saskatoon the setlist I don't think it could have been better suited for my liking. Winnipeg was amazing because it was sooooooooooo loud. So glad to have the concerts to enjoy over and over. After Fargo in 2003 it took me a year to come down from that. Can't wait for the new album that's gonna be awesome. Maybe just maybe I'll get to go see them in Wyoming or Montana or something.
Thanks PJ!!!!!!!!

It's kind of funny to read the posts on here, with people taking shots at Newfoundland. I've never been there myself but I find it hard to believe that people could find something so wrong with such warm, friendly people and awesomely named towns...

No, St. John's isn't New York, but New York isn't St. John's either. I've never seen icebergs off New York, or eaten seal flipper pie there or cod tongues. I've also never stepped over homeless people in the streets of St. John's.
Newfoundland is one of the funkiest, friendliest, coolest, most unique and beautiful places in all of North America.
Travel with an open mind or why bother.0
