Its amazing to me that all of these threads have only revealed that 99% of the people starting these threads have no freaking clue as to how the concert ticket system works in this country.
I have a friend that works for a wrigely field and cubs sponsor/advertiser. He asked for two tickets and got them. After the public on sale. Decent seats too! He actually wants to go.
Now imagine 1,000 (or more) other people that can make that same call, but they want to scalp them.
There is no ticket scandal because the Wrigley situation just simply revealed the reality of the concert industry as a whole. People are maximizing their access to tickets to resell them and as a result, prices are much higher.
I really wonder if more than 10-20% of the tickets ever go on sale to the public.0 -
10 - 20% would only be 4000 - 8000 tickets if there are 40,000, and there are probably more than that. You think that there are 32,000+ tickets out there with the resellers and scalpers??? I don't.Get_Right wrote:Its amazing to me that all of these threads have only revealed that 99% of the people starting these threads have no freaking clue as to how the concert ticket system works in this country.

i heard a rumor of somebody chasing down 20 tix or was it 20 pairs that were slated to be given out for promotional purposes.81 is now off the air

1500 tickets is a relatively small amount. PJ did about as good of a job as you can do to prevent scalping. Look at any other concert, any style of music in a stadium or baseball park and look at the numbers of tickets listed on stubhub.
Jason Aldean Wrigley - 8100 +
Kenny Chesney Philly 6400+
Kenny chesney Anaheim 5900+
Jay-Z JT Fenway - 4700+
Jay-Z Chicago 7100+
Jay Z Philly 7400+
Taylor Swift Jersey - 9500+
Taylor Swift Philly 6100+
So the point is, the MAJORITY of tickets didn't get sold to scalpers. In fact, it looks to me like way fewer tickets go into the hands of scalpers than normal.Gorge0 -

Not saying that but, I really think that the number of tickets released on a public sale are a smaller percentage than most people think. It wouldn't surprise me if 10,000 or less went on sale to the public after 10c, neighbors, subscribers, promo, held tix etc.0 -
If an exec at Budweiser wants a ticket, do you think he has to go to stubhub to get one? Nope.81 wrote:Get_Right wrote:I have a friend that works for a wrigely field and cubs sponsor/advertiser. I heard that 200 tickets were loaded onto a freight ship headed from new york to miami this morning...they will then be loaded onto a plane at 7:03PM and flown to a secret location in the midwest where they will be picked up by an unmarked car and delivered to a courier who will then bring them to a bar day of the game and give them away to unsuspecting fans!
My question is why were those 200 tix not given to 10C?!?!? now thats the scandal! This could be the day0 -
Of course not. There are comp tix for ALL shows and events. Of course. They go to sponsors, etc. That's where all those giveaway tickets that people win on the radio come from. And of course some go to those involved with the venue or the band or any other company connected to the show. Fair enough IMO.Get_Right wrote:

Noone could buy 6 tickets then log back on with another CC and buy 6 more. It was hard enough getting on in the first place. Thats my whole point.
Again, I was just posting the info that was posted on each site and the conversation I had with the sales rep @ Stubhub. Take it how you want to.
RATS.
It was 6 as far as I know. My friend got 3 sets of 6 tickets. Right. And what I am saying is that the amount of tickets held back for that purpose is larger than ever because there are a lot of people with that kind of access that are only requesting tickets to scalp. Nothing new really its been going on for years, but its worse than ever due to the websites and a lot of people just don't understand this. Thousands of tickets get scalped this way. And this doesn't include the brokers and their sophisticated techniques or any tickets that the ticket services scalp themselves.PJ_Soul wrote:Of course not. Just saying, at the end of the day the piece of the pie for the regular fan that buys through a public on sale, or even a pre-sale is much smaller than many believe.0 -

I think the real problem with tickets is Pearl Jam doesn't play enough shows. So a lack of shows with a high demand means a lot of "real fans" get shut out. I don't think that Pearl Jam selling out Wrigley is a big deal since they have only played 5 US shows since 2010. If Dave Matthews or Bruce Springsteen or Phish only played 5 US shows since 2010 they could sell out Wrigley too. The Dispatch sold out MSG 3 nights in a row when they were on hiatus and I had never even heard of them at the time. When FASCISM Comes To America

And Bruce sells out wrigley no matter what (except $1,000 seats).0 -

They did the same thing in Boston and I am still not sure who they are.___________________________________________

Dispatch actually had over 100,000 people show up for their show at the Hatch Shell. They are self proclaimed as "the biggest band no one ever hear of" but they still sell out shows since they reunited. Not here to hijack thread just to show my fondness for this band.
