Price the original ticket at the proper market value. The 2ndary market just reflects what folks are willing to pay. If they priced more appropriately up front, it would be lower than scalpers b/c you need the mass, but it basically kills the 2ndary market (not entirely - it will never go away, but a lot of it).Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -

Just don't buy them and they lose $100 of dollars. Its a start but an endless battle till they shut down these sites. So NEVER will happen.0 -

Most websites are paid to support advertising, makes sense that a site would pay eddievedder.com to advertise their ticket site and in turn advertise the tix. Kind of like advertising beer during football games...hit your target audienceThis could be the day0 -

Not exactly. But, if they charged $350 for the front 10 rows, then scaled back (See pricing for Neil Young for example) with $125 for 100's, and $50 cheap seats, it would solve that issue. I know. I know. We clubbers earned the right to those front row, and only non-fans have money to spend on bands like this b/c nobody but us poor slobs like good music, and nobody will be standing blah, blah, blah.
But, yes. That would solve this problem to a large extent b/c:
A) there would be more risk involved for scalpers
there would be less profit available.
The other offshoot is it would eliminate folks needing to go to 50 shows a tour, so they would have to think and choose which one(s) they really want to attend, thus also "spreading the love/tickets".
Sacrilege. I know. PJ making money instead of scalpers. :roll:Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -

So again with the idea that PJ should never ever do special event shows. I don't like that idea at all.SVRDhand13 wrote:Hugh Freaking Dillon wrote:how can the band be expected to have control over something that is bought on the secondary market?

There's a difference between never ever do and do frequently.

Come on, you know the point he is making that the demand is high for shows because there haven't been many shows in the states. I don't think he ever said not to have special event shows. Personally, I think Wrigley will be the star of the night just like the Missoula venue and atmosphere was the star of that weekend. The Missoula show was great but just like any 2003 and 2006 show.0 -

I got pissed when Neil announced a tour and the tickets were $250. He released an album (Le Noise) that I actually liked and I wanted to go see him perform it. That is beyond a ripoff. However, until now I hadn't thought of the scalper risk end of it. I thought he was just becoming a richer hippie than he already brags about.
I wouldn't like it if PJ did that, simple because that would mean I'd have NO chance of going to the show. I can't afford to follow them around, nor can I afford that price for one show. I have only traveled for PJ once and EV once (both driving distance-never flown).Gimli 1993
