1. Do you think they would do it? On the one hand, they are all sports fans. On the other hand, it is the biggest Corporate America event.

2. What four songs would they play?

I have these four:

1. Given to Fly
2. Unthought Known
3. Even Flow
4. Alive

  • Funny, a friend just texted me a link of possible future half time shows and PJ was listed.

I have to say that I could only support this if the Seahawks were playing in the SB. Besides, I'd have to go and SB tickets are retarded expensive and harder to get than PJ tickets!

I think they'd do it. All their contemporaries have done it: Bruce Springsteen; Tom Petty; the Who. I think U2? They aren't the same band they were 15 years ago. Back then they would have gotten sick just at the thought.

    4 songs would be:
New track we haven't heard yet
    Even Flow
    Betterman
    Alive

Another habit says its long overdue
Another habit like an unwanted friend

Remember when someone called into Sirius and asked Kelly Curtis about this and his response was that he'd get fired if he ever booked them for the Super Bowl?

Good to hear. Personally, I don't want to see them there. With all those people on the field, not giving a shit who's on stage other than having spent $5,000 to be there... NEXT!

Good luck on 4 songs, the halftime musician gets about 12-13 minutes. When Petty played Arizona my friend wanted to go to a Super Bowl so bad she agreed to be a crowd member for the halftime show (there was an ad in the AZ Republic). Practice for the show was 2 hours a day for 2 weeks. That's right, practicing when to clap, wave your arms, etc. On a note unrelated to music, she was lead in right before halftime and then the group was sent out of the building directly after. She didn't watch 1 minute of the Super Bowl live. I would love to see Pearl Jam kill the Super Bowl, make the game an afterthought. But here are some questions:

    1. Would the Ten Club have any pull to get any of us tickets? I wouldn't think so because it is the Super Bowl but Pearl Jam would hopefully include a clause where they would only play if they had their own crowd on the field (I mean, how would the alternates know that they have to sing Betterman at the top of their lungs among all the other songs)

    2. Would Pearl Jam agree to only play hits? The NFL and CBS would not let Pearl Jam choose their own setlist. Even Flow (no long solo) and Alive would be musts followed by 1 other that people in the general audience have to have heard on the radio, possibly Animal or Betterman or YL? Remember the halftime musician only gets about 12 minutes (Beyonce played liked 6 songs/choruses in that time).

    3. Would they want to do it? It would be considered the ultimate sell out by some (not myself, I've grown up). Part of me thinks that they want to continue to be considered old school grunge by the general public's view on music and never do it and part of me thinks that they want to show the world why they are one of the top live acts on Earth, hell Eddie murdered it at the 12/12/12 show.

absolutely agree. Dave is the ultimate rock star and I wish he was still drumming. After seeing the 12/12/12 show could you imagine.
