  • Why not train it if you can... We are planning a trip to chi town in august and it is like 130 return for two of us from detroit.

Yeah I'll definitely be taking the train if I get tickets, or possibly even if I don't have them yet with the hopes of scoring some when I get there...

If you stick to weekdays, there are some tickets for $112 for two people round trip, which would be cheaper than the gas it would take to get there, and the same amount of time as driving.

If you're going with friends you gotta drive if you can. Me and two of my buddies made the treck to Alpine from NY and we made it a 3 day trip to get there. Stopped in Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Chicago... But we had to drive back in one shot 16 hours and that was brutal when you multiply it by post tour depression

Anyone thinking of driving from the east coast?

PNC Park is the nicest ball park in the country. Plus its a chance to see our beloved Buccos a few months before they win the World Series.

Flying solo from Denver, waiting on buying airline tickets however. My sources are telling me fares will drop.

I'm flying solo too from Denver..
  • Driving from Yonkers, NY.. About 14 1/2 hours as well.. As said before, love driving to not from. But, to get away from the kids and the craziness for a bit with my wife and see my friends and PJ, well worth the effort. And doing it Wednesday to Sunday to recoup.. I do NY to SC almost every year, around 12 hours. I find that an ice cold six pack as soon as you arrive really alleviates the fatigue from the long trip going there. Will do a pretty much straight run there, coming home we will stop and sleep after about 6-7 hours of driving. Plus, most likely carpooling with a few of my favorite allies ;) so we will switch off driving duties. It ain't shit when your splitting up the driving..As I right this though, I'm thinking an Eco van/ mini camper might make this even more fun..Hmmm??

I concur with the above fact.
As long as its not six of those fancy 10% alcohol brews....you might have a rough time the next morning.

All for the road trip... but driving 900+ miles means taking even more time off work, which is not an option if I want to still have a job once I'm done following the band around this year.:lol:

I'm coming from Houston. It would be a 17 hour drive one way for me. It is worth the $340 bucks to fly and save 29 hours total.
40+ shows, it is never enough!
