Was wondering if anyone went to their show last night :?: in LA at the Staples Center. Main reason I was wondering cause the band OFF! was finally supporting them. Curious as to hear how they were and how the crowd reacted, etc...

I feel like I'm putting up with their music than I am enjoying it... I know that's wrong, but I'm not really digging anything they've done in the last 10 years or so...

Really? Cause for me Californication, By The Way, and Stadium Arcadium might possibly be the greatest 3 consecutive releases by any band since the Beatles or Zeppelin.

  • Was absolutely thrilled seeing them in Vancouver last Saturday.

    Great evening. Greart evening.

This last album could have been better... but by no means is it brutal. Monarchy is a great tune.

This band is one of the greats. Period.

They started to chill out musically after Californication so I can see way you're saying. To each his own. I seem to listen to Stadium more than any other Chilis album. Johns guitar work I that album is amazing

I take it back... There's a song from Stadium that ended up in the movie "The Fighter"... Strip my mind or something... I dig that track...

Yep, Strip my Mind is the one. Great tune. I dig Johns vocals to open the song.

Just watched the fighter the other night. This 'forgotten' song caught my ear too- I've listened to it a few times since.

Been revisiting some of their albums lately. "One Hot Minute" is still a solid album almost 30 years down the road.

"Californication" is solid throughout but the way the vocals were recorded makes it an "in the car" album for me. Lots of harshness and sibilance on revealing equipment in a quiet environment. Takes away from the experience.

Listening to "By the Way" right now. I haven't played this album in years. It didn't really click with me when it came out but it sounds pretty fucking good now!

Agreed on all counts. OHM is so underrated, the mixing and mastering on Californication ruins an otherwise great album and BTW gets better with every listen.
