"I can feel their laughter, so why do I sear"

Sear? I've never quite understood this line. anyone?

    Yeah, that makes sense. I think I've also seen it written as "seer", but this website says, "sear" and that makes more sense...He's got some cajun-blackened-seared anger going on.
