That is valid enough I guess. But I would argue that most of the stoners I know aren't planning a firefight with police if their weed is confiscated. There does seem to be a growing number of gun enthusiasts who cannot say the same. Still, I take your point.___________________________________________

I'm not arguing legal/illegal guns and I'm not talking about Obama. I'm just saying common sense needs to prevail at some point. A gun legal or illegal, shoots a bullet and people die.
Illegal guns and illegal ammunition causes crime. Legal guns and ammunition provides protection, sport, and food.
Ok, so if person 'A' has a legal gun, legal ammunition and proper paperwork and registration and all that, stores it legally, safely, unloaded and locked......100%legally done...... Person 'A' gets pissed off at the world one day, or his wife, neighbor,whatever/whoever....... He goes on a shooting spree and kills people. Would that not cause crime?
I'm just saying guns kill people......quit making them, quit selling them and quit shipping them into our countries..... There's enough of them
All car deaths in this country were committed using legally obtained cars as well.0 -

Geez you are simple.
Do you understand the overwhelming majority of gun deaths are the result of legally attained weapons?
You use the laughing icon. If there was a drooling fool icon I would use it right now.
No they aren't. Far from it actually.0 -

Of course, but at every turn the presence of an armed guard is being touted as a guarantee that these tragedies would be preventable. There is no proof that is indeed the case, and the presence of a second gun firing shots may very well raise the victim count.
Again...no proof. And if I was a parent of one of the children at that school I would have preferred in hindsight to have someone armed there.0 -
dudeman wrote:Look. We have laws against gun violence, background checks, limits on types of weapons we can get and people still target places likely to be unprotected.
You can't legally have a gun at school, in a movie theater, bars, government buildings..........and these are exactly the types of places shooting sprees occur. Think there might be a reason?
We've tried tighter restrictions on law-abiding gun owners. It doesn't work. Violent crime increases when criminals know they are targeting unarmed victims.
It's time we get to the root cause of criminal activity in our homes, schools and within ourselves. Let's prevent people from being victimized and stop them from becoming criminals in the first place.
We have tried everything else. Why not place armed guards in schools and other vulnerable locations for mass-killings. Do it like the previous (failed) assault weapons ban, in that it will expire if deemed a failure and let the legislation dissolve. At the same time, talk to your kids. Educate them about the evils of the world. Instill the value of life in them and teach them that their actions carry consequences. Lead by example and be aware of the influence your actions have on others.gimmesometruth27 wrote:dudeman wrote:I think he's saying that the guns are not responsible at all. The criminals that got their hands on them were responsible.
I understand the points you guys are trying to make, they are just incredibly naive and near-sighted. If you hang a "No Weapons Allowed" sign outside any establishment, anyone can assume that they won't be countered with deadly force if they decide to go in and shoot the place up. Hang up some "We will Shoot to Kill any Crazy Motherfucker that Comes to Harm our Children" signs. That is deterrent.
and if this becomes law, you will register your weapons or you will be a criminal.0 -

How do you know? I will say they were all gang bangers who have used illegal weapons in crime and all promote illegal pot smoking.0 -

and if any of them have been arrested for gun violations they would have been in jail for a long, long time. suge knight has been arrested for assault and stuff, snoop and weezy have been arrested for having weed and possessing weapons, but as far as i know they never committed a violent crime with them."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

So...because they may or may not have targeted a cop with the illegal weapons they possessed they aren't criminals? Interesting. Also, interesting that it's kind of shrugged off they were arrested for illegal weapons possession, but heck they didn't do anything with them...maybe. But yet some feel we need to penalize the legal gun owners? :?0 -

snoop's gun was his own.
i don't give a shit if people have a pistol. nobody anywhere is advocating making pistols or hunting rifles illegal. none of these guys got busted with military grade weapons."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

All of the people I posted have been gangbangers. All of them have possessed illegal weapons. All of them promote the llegal use and sale of drugs. Hard to know what their intentions were before they struck it rich promoting this crap to middle America.
But then again I guess it's ok to assume the ban and over regulation of legally obtained guns will curb the illegal gun violence.0 -

This might be the most blatantly racist post on this site ever.
By the way....smoking pot is not "illegal". In 48 staates it is possession and distribution that is illegal.
But smoking pot is not0 -

Wow, never takes long for the racism to show itself.
Side note, was thinking of it earlier, if some of you gun nuts refuse to abide by any new regulations that are put into place, does this not by right, mean you are breaking the law, i.e. make you a "bad guy" as some like to so eloquently put it.
And haven't those same people mentioned that it should be the goal of everyone to ensure the bad guys don't get their hands on said weapons. Does this mean that it is okay for law enforecement to take your weapons from you are you are not now classed as a law abiding/responsible gun owner?0 -
