you need to pay taxis for what you own
Is this gun related or more broad than that?
Why the hell does the government need to know everything I own?
Also, just because you pay tax on something doesn't mean the government is monitoring your purchases or knows what you own. I bought a case of beer tonight. Paid tax too. Is that being monitored?0 -

When does common sense prevail? Seriously the NRA/Biden thing yesterday, their was a school shooting during it.
Guns are bad, they aren't a piece of metal as I've read somewhere around here, they have 1 purpose and that is too shoot a bullet.
As far as the armed security at the school, the potential for teachers to carry guns, that's just more bullets to shoot. Although, as I read above, there is no proof that more bullets would be fired, odds are the more people that have guns to shoot during a shooting crisis like newtown, more people would have died0 -

Concentration needs to be on the illegal gun activity...not the legal.
BTW...none of the few tragedies the US suffered this past year would have been stopped by the legislation proposed by Oblahblah.0 -

I'm not arguing legal/illegal guns and I'm not talking about Obama. I'm just saying common sense needs to prevail at some point. A gun legal or illegal, shoots a bullet and people die.0 -

Illegal guns and illegal ammunition causes crime. Legal guns and ammunition provides protection, sport, and food.0 -

Ok, so if person 'A' has a legal gun, legal ammunition and proper paperwork and registration and all that, stores it legally, safely, unloaded and locked......100%legally done...... Person 'A' gets pissed off at the world one day, or his wife, neighbor,whatever/whoever....... He goes on a shooting spree and kills people. Would that not cause crime?
I'm just saying guns kill people......quit making them, quit selling them and quit shipping them into our countries..... There's enough of them0 -
Fucking wal mart is the leading seller of guns in the USA, nothing like going and buying some milk, bread and cheese and a handgun. Fucking shoot some shit and make a sandwich, that's a nice morning....fuck0

Sandy Hook School has armed guards at the school and will have them indefinitely.
Can you blame them given their reality?
Let's make a different reality for them so this doesn't have to be.
SO outlawing legally obtained weapons changes the reality of the situation?
Geez you are simple.
Do you understand the overwhelming majority of gun deaths are the result of legally attained weapons?
You use the laughing icon. If there was a drooling fool icon I would use it right now."My brain's a good brain!"0 -

A comfort to the parents whose surviving children still attend. There remains no proof an armed guard would have been able to stop that or any other tragedy. It is just as likely a crossfire between guard and assailant would have taken even more lives.
...and again there is no proof a deadly crossfire fight would have happened. :?
Of course, but at every turn the presence of an armed guard is being touted as a guarantee that these tragedies would be preventable. There is no proof that is indeed the case, and the presence of a second gun firing shots may very well raise the victim count.___________________________________________

I think he's saying that the guns are not responsible at all. The criminals that got their hands on them were responsible.
I understand the points you guys are trying to make, they are just incredibly naive and near-sighted. If you hang a "No Weapons Allowed" sign outside any establishment, anyone can assume that they won't be countered with deadly force if they decide to go in and shoot the place up. Hang up some "We will Shoot to Kill any Crazy Motherfucker that Comes to Harm our Children" signs. That is deterrent.gimmesometruth27 wrote:DS1119 wrote:push me and i will resist wrote:

If mass murders with guns was a world wide issue then yes I'd say Hollywood was a big contributor... But it's just Americans doing this..I'm just flying around the other side of the world to say I love you

Look. We have laws against gun violence, background checks, limits on types of weapons we can get and people still target places likely to be unprotected.
You can't legally have a gun at school, in a movie theater, bars, government buildings..........and these are exactly the types of places shooting sprees occur. Think there might be a reason?
We've tried tighter restrictions on law-abiding gun owners. It doesn't work. Violent crime increases when criminals know they are targeting unarmed victims.
It's time we get to the root cause of criminal activity in our homes, schools and within ourselves. Let's prevent people from being victimized and stop them from becoming criminals in the first place.
We have tried everything else. Why not place armed guards in schools and other vulnerable locations for mass-killings. Do it like the previous (failed) assault weapons ban, in that it will expire if deemed a failure and let the legislation dissolve. At the same time, talk to your kids. Educate them about the evils of the world. Instill the value of life in them and teach them that their actions carry consequences. Lead by example and be aware of the influence your actions have on others.gimmesometruth27 wrote:dudeman wrote:I think he's saying that the guns are not responsible at all.
