I was in Indio for the 'Shoes for my friends' and 'Jeff and I are going to wait by the gate and kick every one of you shoeless motherfuckers' asses' classic show. (Fuck Me In The Brain!)

I think they would mostly be Eddie's climbing/diving as shown by the movie. What an awesome montage during Porch/PinkPop.

Long Road in AZ on a windy stormy night
not a PJ moment...but seeing EV play with Mike Watt in 95 NYC tramps

  • i've seen this band quite a bit, but no moment will ever be as intense for me as Porch during Bonnaroo. Wow.
under your tongue, im like a tab.. i will give you what your not supposed to have

in wide open spaces we sing, with strings.. launch a full on musical cannonball.. guided by bells that we bring, they ring.. sound for the sky and the sun, our own waterfall...

one with the raging wind, alive on the highest tides, my ship at sail can climb a mountain.. ride it to the sky
  • No particular order except for Leash. That was my favorite moment ever:
Boston 06 - When they played Leash after 11 years
MSG 2 98 - when they played Breath after the huge campaign
Albany 06 - Rats played after 8 years
Penn St 03 - Satans Bed after 7 years
Boston 04 - Ive Got A Feeling 1st time in 10 years and not played since
Philly 05, & all 4 2009 shows - Especially hearing HOLD ON (1st time) & OUT OF MY MIND (3rd - 15 yrs), BUGS (1st time) Pilate after 9 yrs
Seattle 09 - No Way 1st time in 11 years
Jones beach 2000 - Its OK
MSG 10 - Black, Red, Yellow & Lukin II
There are more I cant think of.

And pretty much every MSG, Boston/Mansfield, Philly & Hartford shows are always amazing. SO I never miss those.

  • for me there's one moment that stands out more than any.

we went to the merriwhether show in 2000. sonic youth got canceld so PJ came on like an hour or so earlier. we snuck down to third row on mike's side. the lady even looked at our tickets and let us keep going! pearl jam comes out and there is hardly anyone up front yet. we were the only ones even making any noise. well during Corduroy mike points out at us during the song. this may be a small thing to bring up but what makes this so great is the fact that that Corduroy is the version on "Touring Band" DVD they released and the camera view changes to behind the stage from mike's side and you can see him reach out and point at us. no one ever believes me when I tell this story but it's totally true. and I dont care if anyone believes me or not, I know I was there and that's all that matters.

one other note, the Black on Live on Two Legs is the Black from Va Beach 1998...my first show...

    1. Best moment(s) ever were getting Eddie & Jeff picks while in front row during Showbox 2004. Also worst moment because both picks either fell out of my pocket, or were taken out of my pocket. Sad 'til this day about that.
    2. Not PJ, but at Flight to Mars 2009 when Mike gave my girlfriend, now fiance a pick and proceeded to talk with her about his dogs when he autographed the pick for her.
    3. Dirty Frank, Gorge I 2006
    4. Breath, Houston 2003
    5. Singing along to Glorified G in the pouring down rain in Kansas City 2003
    6. Hearing Driftin' in OKC 2003. Mike comes in half way through because he had blown out his amp on the previous song.
    7. Bu$hleaguer in Vancouver 2003 after it hadn't been played for a lot of the tour. Most people in the crowd held signs that read, "Play Bu$hleaguer. It's Canada. It's OK."
    8. Driving from Pullman to Boise with some friends. Resting for a few hours back in Pullman, then heading out to Seattle with another group of friends 2000.
    9. Daughter/It's OK, Gorge I 2006
    10. Road tripping from Tacoma to the Gorge, then up to Vancouver, onto Calgary, and Edmonton 2005. Prettiest drive I have even driven. I highly recommend this drive. Hopefully many of you are doing this drive this week, but in inverse order. Also Calgary got 6th row center and Edmonton 4th row center, best seats using my number.
  • anytime back in the early 1990's when ed either climbed up the rigging and even swinging from the roof
or best of all, getting onto the camera at pinkpop and jumping into the crowd.

    basically crazy eddie

    MSG 2 9/11/1998

during the end of Alive (which closed the show) Ed kept throwing the mic around the overhead lighting rig until it was strong enough, then he climbed up the thing while the song neared the end...Never heard the Garden that loud....EVER......

  • I assume this is meant to be moments I've been to - not top all time moments. Moments I've been to in no particular order:

ARO.Space 1998 - Matt Cameron's first show in PJ and a secret 300 person club show. Ed debuts Lass Kiss from a 45 he bought and learned the day before, and shows us his new Michael Jordan Bong

Moore Theatre 1995- Piss Bottle Men 2nd show with Neil Young Encore

Memorial Stadium 2nd show 1998 - Mr. Pickles descends from the rafters and gets batted around

Key Arena 2000- Alive played for 1st time since the tragedy

Phoenix 2000 - (see Long Road from Touring Band) - crazy weather, great set from 4th row center, and Stones pants and cowboy hat

Boston 2006 - Return of Leash

LA 2009 - Cornell for Hunger Strike

Key Arena 2009 - Start of Backspacer tour seeing many songs played live for the first time

Gorge 2006 - Two ridiculously hot days and nights, seeing Wash opener, Ed climbing a little, and Dirty Frank

Gorge 2003 - My first show, playing Vs tracks before the record was out, and Blind Melon opened with Neil Young as the headliner.

    I've done pretty well eh?

1994 Regal Theater Chicago. For those of you not from chicagoland area, the show was on the far south side of chicago at this old theater...i think it held about 2k people. The part of town where 2 high school jr's from the burbs shouldnt be going to. 3 Days after the epic Chicago stadium show so there was still so much hype in the air. I only say epic since it was the first or one of the first "big" us shows as far as attendance goes aside from the lolla shows. Anyways..the iconic moment is when ed climbed the balcony and dropped on top of us in the 7th row. We passed him around like a joint for about 5 min. The whole show was unreal.

    A couple moments I experienced 1st hand.....

8/23/09 Chicago - Ed comes out and let's us know they have alot of emotion to get thru tonight, we'll go thru it together. 1st stateside show of the tour and a homecoming of sorts. So much goodiness wrapped up in this show!

5/6/10 Columbus - Mike's surprise solo songs to start the whole evening off. Ed's PJ religion rant at the end of "Comatose". "Come Back" being dedicated to Brian Shaffer (Columbus fan gone missing).

5/7/10 Nolbesville/Indy - Show being post-poned due to a tornado warning that delayed the show and me getting my tickets (was one of the last ones in). Seemed like the band/crew ensured all the 10c was in before starting things and put on a show to make up for the weather. "Lukin>Better Man" sing along that Ed references "before the show, Mike said he f*ckin loves the Midwest!"

  • Out of the 11 Shows I have been to....
    My list :

Toledo 1996- FIrst show I went to, I snuck a beach ball in and it made it all the way to the stage during Betterman from the back of the venue.

East Lansing 1998- Soldier of Love was played for the first time

Toledo 2004- some guy named Neil Young played a few songs...Peter Frampton came out and played too

Toronto 2005- Bono came out for Rockin In The Free World
  • I don't know if I have 10, but:

Columbus June 2003 (my first show)

Going 2/2 on Yellow Ledbetter is awesome. I know a lot of people have heard this song too much to count, but the band walked off the stage during my first show after Fuckin' Up. People were LEAVING...All of a sudden, I thought I heard a noise from the speakers...then another noise...and the band came back for YL.

Thinking in that same show how I wanted to hear Jeremy...and getting it.

A long (around eight minute) version of Wishlist with the disco/mirror ball going. Hearing it right after Given To Fly was great. :)

    2010:
Running the Wishlist Foundation preshow party was a blast. If you've never been to one...go!

Opening with Mike's preset and the main set opener of Oceans was fantastic and entirely unexpected.

It was a great show for fans of the Avacado album as the majority of that album was played.

From the ocean to the sky, the second song was Given to Fly. :)

Black was fantastic and one that I really wanted to hear.

Mike's solo during Even Flow and Mike/Boom during Crazy Mary. :):)
