Does anyone know if anything will be on the internet (live or highlights) from Reading?
If so, please post the details in a separate thread.
Thanks.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me...0 -
There was just one guy in front of me I couldn't get around! I was just of to the right of the centre stage and could hardly breath when it looked like Eddie was going to throw a tamberine into the crowd, bit of a crowd serge!
Awsome show can't wait to see the video.0 -
Thanks for the vid duggro!! Brings back happy memories... don't suppose you have any more to share?0

Just got back from Leeds, fantastic show. Got in the pit straight after Placebo finshed. Got centre about 5 rows from front. Even got on the screen a couple of times according to my wife who back by the sound/lighting tent. Sound was fantastic, really clear, even when I 'retired' the sound/lighting tent for encore it sounded almost as good, not as loud though. The set as a posted elsewhere was quite old-school but who cares it's Pearl Jam. Highlights for me were Daughter, SOLAT, Lukin and Hail Hail. Shame it wasn't on TV I'd love to re-live it.0

Just back home now in London after an amazing experience in Leeds last night.
Myself and RJB from the board drove up from London yesterday afternoon (nightmare bank holiday weekend traffic!) to make it in time for the end of Placebo. I was a bit bummed that we missed Slayer but we intend to make up for that by getting ourselves to Reading nice and early tomorrow.
There were plenty of PJ enthusiasts in the crowd which was good to see as I was not sure how the UK crowd would be. The best conversation I had was with two youngs guys of all of 18 behind us who saw my PJ t-shirt and asked if I could tell them what PJ were like as they had never really heard of them! This led me to two realisations (a) being 30 makes me old at a festival and (b) I have been in the fan club for almost two thirds of their lives!!
The wait for the boys to come on was intense - especially for RJB who has never seen them live before. The excitement of the moment was almost ruined by the music they played directly before the boys came on - I don't know about others but to me but playing "Come as you Are" was pretty fucking offensive.
The boys came on about ten minutes before they were slotted to as the main stage was running early. Ed came out and asked everyone to look after each other - it was pretty evident that he was concerned about playing to a festival crowd given the band's last experience and several times during the set you could see him go to the side of stage (usually while Mike was shredding) and take a good look at how things were going in the mosh.
Bets were on about the opener and incredibly I managed to call the Go/Animal double-header! The boys were really tight throughout the set and the reception from the crowd was great. The sound was quite good from where I was (Mike side) - the bass in particular was really loud which was great for me as I've struggled to hear Jeff at a few previous shows that I've been to.
As you can see from the set list the boys really ramped it up for the first 9 songs before calming it down just a little with Small Town. Ed (as always) thanked everyone for coming out and mentioned that they hadn't been to the UK for a while and never to Leeds (although Matt confirmed that Soundgarden had played at Leeds at some stage).
My personal highlights were the Go/Animal opener, Whipping and RITFW (where Ed came down from the stage and walked the full length of the barricade). The set list was pretty much a 'greatest hits' package although the absence of Betterman and Jeremy was evident - I expect that Ed had carefully considered the set list for Leeds and decided to hold a few crowd favourites back to ensure that people got something a bit different tomorrow night at Reading.
As has already been mentioned, Ed's parting speech involved him telling everyone about a dream which he could only describe as 'grotesque' which involved him watching George Bush fucking some nameless woman (although Ed noted George was currently fucking all of us!!). To para-phrase -in his dream Ed had noticed that no condom was being used and he subsequently had yelled for George to pull out as his fear was that another Bush would mean less trees!! Bizarre yes - but one would expect nothing less from Ed!!
After a 3 year break from seeing the boys live (my last foray was in Australia in 2003) - it was great to see them absolutely giving it some only a few metres away from me last night. I am pumped for Reading tomorrow and looking forward to the PJ only shows in Marseille, Paris, Verona, Milan, Prague and Berlin. See you other ten clubbers there!!0 -
oh i forgot, ive got a vid of his dream speech too
and i probs banged into you a few times tidus as i ended up at about the same location you described!Dublin Leeds Berlin Wembley0 -
