    I have only had to call the police a few times and have done it anonymously each time. I imagine they could trace my cell phone number but I never had any concerns. If I did I could go to a payphone and it would have been 100% anonymous.

    I saw some kids vandalizing a car one time and was ignored when I reported it. That said, I doubt many police departments would ignore a report of a strange guy with a camera outside a school.

    I would hope the police would not ignore a report of any kind that involves the potential threat of
    someones well being.

    One time... i was driving up the street and saw three kids... a bigger kid pounding on a smaller kid. So, I jumped out and ran over and told them to stop. The older kid said it was his brother... I asked the kid getting pounded if that was true and he said, 'Yes'.
    I said... 'Okay... carry on'.

    I understand what you are saying but it is a bit of an exaggeration. If you call to report something like this from a payphone yes technically they could trace the call, find a security camera that caught you on film, run your face through facial recognition software (probably not standard issue at your local PD) and identify you. But the odds of any of that happening are incredibly slim.
