edited February 2013 in The Porch
Dates were announced today 5/17/12 to 5/19/12. The Festival forums have Mumford and Sons, Sound Garden, Jack Johnson and Kings of Leon (actually possible second tier) as early favorites as headliners. Ironically someone somewhere heard there is no way Pearl Jam would do this festival since the did the Gulf Shores at Deluna this year. Anyone else hear this rumor? Either way I am going as I heard the location is great as Condos are in walking distance and you can come and go as you please. Early bird goes on sale 12/1.

I meant 2013. You won't need a Delorean to get there. Other rumors are Green Day, Beck, Prince and Jimmy Buffet. I think those forums just like to speculate for the fun of it but like I said looks like a fun festival for people like me that don't want to be in a field for three days.

That setup looks sweet. Alot like Deluna which was a blast. I think im gonna have to check that out in 2013 whoever ends up playing. It looks like theyve had solid lineups the last couple of years.

Their Facebook page asks the question on what bands you would like to see and list 100 bands (approximately 25 of which could headline) and Pearl Jam is one of them. By no means do I think Pearl Jam has a chance of playing this festival but I wonder If the festival even has a clue who is favored yet or did they just pick random bands? Anyways Mumford and Sons is leading with 218 votes and PJ is around the top with 83 votes.

I personally think these are planned out way in advance. I think they do things like this just to stir up some buzz for ticket sales

Yeah, that's what I am thinking. But it would be crap if they have you vote on all the bands listed and they randomly pick three headliners not even on the list. There are festival later than this one (Floyd fest with JBT) that already announced bands so they must be in talks with some of the managers. I personally don't mind them announcing the dates way far out in advance. I had free plane tickets to anywhere in the US and the quicker I knew these dates the quicker I could book. Plus all the Condos in Gulf SHores are booking fast. But I hear what your saying.

Early bird GA sold out in five minutes and VIP and super VIP in just over an hour. I got mine. Major buzz on the sites that Soundgarden will be a headliner.

  • Regardless of who is at this fest (really hope PJ is though) I will be going. I missed out on the early bird tickets, so hopefully I can snag some the next time they go on sale. If the rumors of Mumford and Soundgarden playing are true, that's enough already to get me there. Plus, it's only a 2 hour drive from where I live. Should probably book a condo now though.

There's vacation rental place called Meyer real estate that is selling early bird tickets and waiving the fee if you book a condo with them for the festival. I paid $227 a ticket for early bird with the fees as I am staying somewhere else (my condo was cheaper) but my buddy paid $189.00 as he booked with Meyer. The new rumors are "from a local of Gulf shores in the know" are Muse Friday night, Tom Petty Saturday night and Phish Sunday night with Mumford opening for Phish. The rumors are fun but it's anyones guess who is playing. I hope it's PJ as the do love festivals.

Someone on the HO FB page posted that the reason for the delayed line up announcement (always been first Tuesday in February) was a contractual obligation, as PJ is one of the headliners and they wanted to wait until tomorrow's ticket sales. I call BS as A: Chicago and Gulf Shores are nowhere near each other and B: Sound Garden is playing two shows the same weekend. But this still made me think of two interesting questions? Macca is the "confirmed" big headliner for HO and Roo (for that matter) and the owner of the HO bar "Shaul" was "confirmed" to saying in writing that he would not go after PJ as they were Deluna's headliner in 2012 and he would not follow suit. That being said, is Macca a bigger draw than PJ and would you go after PJ regardless of past festivals because it's PJ? My answer is PJ is a bigger draw and you always try to book PJ, but maybe I am bias? Maybe the wrong question for here as we are all biased?
