Heck of a morning. Pettitte is close to done, Mo should be done this week and ichiro may be signed.

Can't see them going to corner outfielders of ichiro and Gardner but we'll see.

Hmm, i liked Phelps, but i also liked him as a long reliver, Nova's always so shaky that first inning so he's no good out of the pen., Well i'm sure Giradi will let them battle it out in preseason.

So if the Yankees stand pat essentially keeping the same team as last year they haven't accomplished anything except getting another year older. :?

Welcome to the Hal era, I think George wouldn't have given a shit about the upcoming 189 cap.

Or they keep the same rotation that was actually really good last year. They don't have a dh, catcher or a set outfield

Yeah the 189 is a pipe dream. So what we get is a season long of Home Run Derby and if they're lucky enough to get into the playoffs a probable early exit again. :fp:

To say the Yankees are going into the season with the same team makes no sense. No offensive moves have been made and Gardner will be coming back. The solid pitching staff is coming back with the possibility of Pineda in may or June and I am sure there will be another starter or two in camp. The fireworks last year didn't get started for over another month, this team is far from set. It's not even friggen December, the winter meetings haven't started. Unless you were hoping for a bootleg version of granderson, the Yankees haven't missed out on any free agents.

Also, while the fashion in which they got bounced was miserable, not sure i would call a trip to the alcs an early exit.

Anything short of a World Series is an early exit. And yes I consider getting bounced in 4 games an early exit.

I don't completely disagree, and it was disappointing, I just have a tough time complaining about an alcs bid

Sounds like Rivera is coming back. I guess we might know more tomorrow when Cashman talks after doing his practice rappelling runs on Stamford's Landmark Building.
