Grunge is Dead vs.Everybody loves Our Town- which is better?

I stumbled upon an excerpt from the book "Grunge is Dead: An oral history of Seattle Rock Music" on Rolling Stone's Web site. When I looked on Amazon, there's another called "Everybody Loves Our Town: An Oral History of Grunge." Has anyone read both, and can give me a comparison?

  • I've never heard of Grunge is Dead, but Everybody Loves Our Town was pretty awesome. I recommend reading it.

    I've read both.

I thought 'Grunge is Dead' was the superior book, though both are a worthwhile read.
  • You can preview a big chunk of both books on Google books.
  • Everybody Loves Our Town is by far the superior book. It's a well-researched historical document of grunge. Also, it has much better stories related to Pearl Jam. I've read both and I highly recommend Everybody Loves Our Town.

Everybody Loves Our Town is the Rashomon of Seattle in the 90s. For as thick as the tome is, it's so engrossing you'll finish it in no time.

Never heard of "grunge is dead"

"everybody loves our town" I would say is an absolute must read for any music fan of the Seattle bands. Well put together with a great linear history through the quotes of many of the artists of the time. I've loaned it out a few times already. Got positive feed back each time.
