from Insidetherockposters blog:

What is cool about this poster is that it was based on an actual event. In 1992 the capital was under construction and the guys were on tour with a stop in Austin. At night Ed decided to climb to the top of the building. Yes he did climb to the top.

awesome!!!!!

    Two quick questions

    1) who is the artist?

    2) are there anymore postcards?

Originally I wished they didn't do the cut out with Eddie in the top left but it is growing on me... Fast

What is the actual event? I lived in Austin a while and I'm very curious.

Did Ed climb the Texas state Capitol building??
  • I reckon thats actually one of the best posters that there has been from any year, any tour. Love it.

I just looked at past concerts and PJ played in Austin on 4/28/92!
Edit: Also someone commented on instagram "when the capitol building was under construction, Eddie and a friend climbed the scaffolding of it"

From the Pearl Jam Twenty book:
    April 28-30 1992
City Coliseum, Austin Texas; Bronco Bowl, Dallas; Unicorn Club, Houston

Pearl Jam opens three shows for
    Soundgarden in Texas. Vedder gives
    Everybody another huge scare while
    climbing an I-beam in Dallas.

Eddie Vedder: In the beginning, the urge
to stage climb was from being in the
crowd waiting for the next band to go
on, and there'd be thirty minutes as a set
change, and I'd be looking at the venues
and the theaters and the balconies and
the shapes of the rooms, and I thought,
God, it would be great to be able to climb
up there, and I bet you could go from
that point to that point. Like, if you had
the opportunity, wouldn't that be a great
thing to do? And then all of a sudden
you had the chance to do that; like you
had the mike and you had the stage and
you could do that. And then once you
got up there, you realized, Wow, no one's
been up here for a long time! There were
inches of dust. Who knows what had
happened in that building for years? But I
definitely went to places that no one had
been to in a long time.

Matt Cameron: He got to the very top
of this thing, and it's probably, like an
eighty-foot fall or something, and I was
just thinking, He's really going to hurt
himself if he continues doing these types
of performances. But he has that sort
of mental toughness, like he's able to
visualize his next step. That might have
saved him from a big injury. But I'm glad
    he's not doing that anymore.

Yeah I remember reading that part thinking how great it would be to see that. I guess Austin is close enough to Dallas though. I still love the print.

How dare you speak negatively against frank. Why do u think its ok to show a poster with pj history instead of some Andy Warhol rip off? Shame on you.
