Autographs?

Hi all. Very new to the site and club, but always a PJ and Eddie Vedder fan. I have never been to a concert. I am 42 yrs old. The wife and I have planned our trip to Austin, TX for the Nov 11th Show. My question is... at any point in time, before or after the show is there a way to get autographs? I have a Gibson autistic guitar that I would really like to get signed by Eddie, but I am sure to make this happen is like a pipe dream so I am wondering if anyone has information about this or experiences that might help me. I don't want to lug my guitar into the concert hall. Any advice would be appreciated. Can't wait to see this event. Nothing better then his Baritone voice.

Respectfully,
Scott

mydogmookieblaylock, don't you tell me what to do! :P

Hi Scott, well it would be amazing to get the chance to meet Eddie and get something signed by him but it's always hard and it depends on your luck, some people wait for hours and hours after the show to catch him, but it's a lottery, sometimes he leaves early and sometimes you aren't even close to the door he "escaped", and most of the times his bodyguard won't let you ask him Ed to sign stuff and others he just shake your hand and say hi.

I have met him three times after solo show. They tell us not to ask for autographs or take pics with him, so I never tried for autograph. Didn't want to take a chance of ruining it for everyone by asking. Just shook his hand.

They are all really nice. Mike will sign anything,as well will stone and matt. Jeff doest sign guitars nor does Eddie. Although i have recently had luck on getting them on a guitar i had Eddie personalize it to my 2 kids Lukin and Brooklyn. Ur best chance is before the show when they arrive there, Good luck

PJ just posted that 10 show posters at each EV tour stop will be sold for $150, with the proceeds benefiting healeb.org.

  • What you guys haven't heard of an autistic guitar before :P It plays really fast. Anyway's thanks for all the replies. I really thought that it would be impossible to do.. So I was asking to see what you all thought. I know they have a Ukelelee on the auction as well as other items, but I can't afford what the price is, have you seen what the bid is at lol. Good for those kids though for sure and a great cause. I have a couple old posters from when I was 20 or so, might be easier to take with me. I don't want to be that weird 42 year old guy trying to get all this done lol. My son has no taste in music so I can't take him. Maybe Ill pull out the big "guns" and have the wife try lol. Either way it's going to be a great day.

Welcome to the boards Scott. I say good luck with getting the guitar signed as you will need some luck. Typically people hang out out by Ed's bus for a couple hours after the show and then Ed's very large ex Green Beret body gaurd Jesse comes out and reads the ground rules to everyone and one of the first things he says is "no autographs". This is to keep the line moving. Ed doesn't want to be out in the alley all night so they keep it short and sweet but if you don't try you won't get.
  • I read one story...the person happened to just wind up at the hotel in the same lounge/restaurant area as Eddie. Eddie was just sitting there and waved his hand as if to say "come over here."

Not that I recommend that, but

Don't feel weird about it all, I do the "stalker autograph" thing all the time and I'm 43 :D ...just got an acoustic guitar signed after a show recently by one of my favourite bands, the Tragically Hip, and I think the musicians actually appreciate the fact that someone their age is asking (that's the impression I get)...I will admit though that maybe breaking out the wifey may help, for some reason, they may seem drawn to them :P Good luck, and who gives a frickin crap what everyone else thinks, its your moment, just be true and respectful!
