Apparently the boys just played a secret club gig in Paris, warming up. Tickets were $20, man I would have loved to be in France today, or night over there.

    Setlist:

    Route 66
It's Only Rock & Roll (But I LIke It)
    Shattered
    When The Whip Comes Down
    Champagne And Reefer
    Doom And Gloom
    Miss You
    Start Me Up
    Midnight Rambler
    Tumbling Dice
    Jumpin' Jack Flash
    Brown Sugar

Pretty short, and heavy on Some Girls tracks, but it was just a warmup. And if I got to see the Stones in a club, I'd pay a whole lot more than $20, regardless of setlist length.

I know, plus they put on a show like nobody has seen in a long time. No brass, no Blondie on backup guitar, no backup vocal section. Last night it was just 6 guys. The four primary band members, Darryl on bass and Chuck on piano. Just Mick, two guitars, a rhythm section and piano. No 30 people on stage. Keith, Darryl and Chuck did the backing vocals when needed. I've never heard of Darryl singing, so that's cool.

Bottom line is that it sounds like they're trying to get back to their roots for this show. Who knows, they might have the whole gang when they get to the stadiums, but last night was a concert like the old days. I don't know when the last time they did that was.

Greatest Rock 'n' Roll band on the planet...it wouldn't surprise me if they put on a typical Stones 2-21/2 year tour starting in 2013.

I agree ... they did this twice in Toronto before kicking off big tours ... I suspect this is just the start of what I hope will be a tour.

Pretty good article about the Paris warm-up gig. Wish PJ would do one or two of these kinds of show a year.

Nah, those are different stories. The one I posted was about them attending the photo exhibition for the 50th Anniversary book, yours is a review of the Paris warm-up gig.

Oops, I swear they were the same stories when I first double-checked. Pretty good story about the warm-up gig regardless. A lot of people saying how great they looked and sounded - even better than back in the 70's with a ton of energy.

There are rumors of another New York show. And the rumors are pretty believable, it's from BV who runs IORR, and his information is usually gold, and he wouldn't post it unless he was pretty damn sure. Anyway, this is what he said.
The Rolling Stones are rumoured for a 3rd US show in Brooklyn

The fast selling tickets for the Newark show seems to make may for a 3rd show in Brooklyn. There are rumours about a show at the Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York City, USA on Saturday Dec. 8. See the updated Rolling Stones 2012 Tour Dates list.

Rehearsal list is looking good. Strong rumor is that they will do sets of songs from each decade. Many of the early songs have not been played live in many many years, so I'm looking forward to it. I'll be in the house for the first show in Newark!
There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.

Rehearsal list from today is starting to look like a working setlist. I'd be pleased if this is the set at the Newark shows!

Pretty good setlist. Couple of nice surprises in there, like "I Wanna Be Your Man", "It's All Over Now", "Lady Jane", etc.

Keith's set is sort of safe, but those songs are his hits for a reason, they're great songs. I'd kill to hear him do "Connection" like in Shine A Light though. It's better to be safe than have a not well received one. When I saw them at Texas Motor Speedway I felt bad for Keith, and was kind of let down when everybody sat down during "All About You", but they perked up for "Wanna Hold You" and got back up.

  • Grr leaked definitely like one more shot over doom and gloom which was pretty decent.

Grr leaked definitely like one more shot over doom and gloom which was pretty decent.

I liked it more at first, until somebody pointed out that it sounded so much like "Take It So Hard", only with Mick on vocals instead of Keith. By the way, when Grrr was announced they said that "One More Shot" was going to be a Keith song, but I guess it isn't, that's definitely Mick.

Doom & Gloom sounds kind of familiar, because it is kind of generic, but One More Shot sounds like a facsimile.

They're both decent enough and I'll get Grrr for them, but I can't believe that after 7 years on hiatus they couldn't come up with anything fresher than these 2 tracks.
