Candlebox gives a shout out to Pearl Jam last night
I saw Candlebox last night and they went through a little spiel where they were talking about where they came from. For the most part, Kevin Martin was just mentioning Mudhoney, Mother Love Bone, Green River, Nirvana, Soundgarden, and a couple others that are escaping me at the moment. He then screamed PEARL JAM! To which their little breakdown in the background turned into the Even Flow bridge just before the final chorus.
They wrapped up the Seattle sound with what he said was his favorite, Alice in Chains followed by a 30-45 second snippet of Would.
Shortly after that they went through about a verse and chorus from bands that influenced them including Immigrant Song, Crazy Train, and Highway to Hell.
Overall a great show from a favorite band of mine that most forget. But I also began to wonder, aside from the Krusen connection, was there ever a Pearl Jam/Candlebox relationship back in the day? At the very least, it was cool to see them give a shout out and pay some respects to the other bands.

1. Kevin Martin and the Hiwatts
or
2. The Gracious Few
you should definitely give them a quick search on Itunes or whatever to see what you think
It is really cool that they mentioned Pearl Jam at the show.
Eddie Vedder solo: 2008 - Boston night 1 & 2 || 2009 - Albany, NY night 1 & 2 || 2011 - Hartford, CT, Boston, MA
Saw them open up for Rush in Providence right after that first album broke. They were very good that night, crowd was on fire for them.
"...I changed by not changing at all..."
Totally cool to learn that Far Behind was about Andy Wood...I had no idea!
Awesome, I've never heard that, and you're right. It does make sense now that I think about it.
Great stuff for sure! I missed the Gracious Few tour, but love the album. Hope to catch them if there's a next time around. Also, ditto about his voice. The man can sing his ass off. On top of that he just has a certain charisma about him that gives the show some energy. It's no schtick either. You can tell they enjoy themselves up there.
