    Top 5 song for me.
And so you see, I have come to doubt

Just listening to this boot the last few days in my car-
    9/2/2000 --Camden NJ --Disc 1 .
This is a good version , and Ed talks a little about the Pope.

Just watched it on the Philly #3 '09 boot, and he said that night it was about how all their friends feel when they go on tour.
Great song - I love it.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata
  • I remember when he said that in Philly, I was there.

Just listened to an older boot (98, I thnk) where he prefaced it with, "this song is about an asshole."
I think sometimes he feels like an asshole for being that guy, and sometimes he feels like that guy, who doesn't quite connect in the same way anymore, or only does briefly.

I'll always remember that version. When Ed sang the line "until a quarter to ten", I looked down at my watch and it was actually that time. True story.

What a stunning, stunning song. PJ should play it more! Glad I got to hear it at one of the EV solo shows I went to last year....was certainly one of many highlights of the 2 nights!
